The United States will have a permanent manned colony on the moon by 2020 if Newt Gingrich is in charge, the Republican presidential hopeful announced today (Jan. 25).
Gingrich laid out this goal during a speech in the city of Cocoa, on Florida’s Space Coast. He also said that near-Earth space would be bustling with commercial activity by 2020, and that America would possess a next-generation propulsion system by then, allowing the nation to get astronauts to Mars quickly and efficiently.
“By the end of my second term, we will have the first permanent base on the moon, and it will be American,” Gingrich said.
The former Speaker of the House made no apologies for the boldness of his amibitions, which depend primarily on the emergence of a vibrant commercial spaceflight industry. He said the U.S. space program needs a kick in the pants like the one President John F. Kennedy gave it in 1961, when he promised to put a man on the moon by the end of the decade.

Newt, please fix the economic state of the United States before you worry about moon bases…please. There is nothing wrong with having loty goals, but prioritize. When Kennedy kicked of his NASA mission to someday land a man on the moon and return by 1970, he wasn’t faced with a crippled economy.
I agree, but perhaps the former Speaker was trying to tell us he intends to have America strong enough for this to become a priority by 2020.
Let us hope that is what he meant.
What Captain PJ and the others missed:
If Newt give NASA that directive, our schools will first start filling up with those that master the engineering to get us to that moon base and create the next generation of propulsion needed.
Then we have all of the tech companies vying for business – most of them will be NEW startups – in order to fill the needs of the space program. THAT IS HOW JOBS AND BUSINESS GROW IN AMERICA – NOT BY GROWING THE WELFARE PROGRAM!
Through Government funding?
I could see the government spending a few million a year on developing new high speed rocket engines, the rest of it needs to be paid for by private business. I think Newt is talking about billions a year in government spending, that’s a no-go.
I believe that Newt is on the right track here. Whoever controls space, will ultimately control Earth. Regardless of some of Newts’ “baggage”, he is the most viable, and electable, candidate.
*
I guess that Dr. Paul not only wants the US to become isolationist (He says Non-Interventionist), he wants to keep the Human Race isolated to Earth.
*
Perhaps the good Doctor doesn’t realize, or he prefers to ignore, that a great number of medical and scientific breakthroughs have resulted from our Space Program.
*
Perhaps Dr. Paul is ignorant of the fact that the nation who controls and explores Space will eventually be the Earths’ dominant force.
*
Perhaps Dr. Paul wants us to sit back, with our head in the sand, while our enemies establish their dominance.
*
Perhaps it’s a really bad idea to cast your vote for someone with such a parochial world view as is Dr. Pauls’. But, he’s still head and shoulders above the traitor we have now.
*
“Regardless of whom the Republican candidate is, restoring the U.S. economy to the status of a “free” economy will require significant policy changes to reduce the size of government, overhaul the tax system, and transform costly entitlement programs, while maintaining our military superiority.
By boosting growth in the private sector, such freedom-enhancing policies are the best hope for bringing down high unemployment rates and reducing public debt to manageable levels.”
*
In any case, the first step in the road to recovery is to get to the polls in November and VOTE the communist, ØZebra, and all of his crony “fellow travelers” out of office.”
YOU CALL TREASON “baggage”? any CFR is a global govt traitor. Re educate yourself.
patriotrenegade,
Thank you for your criticism of my education.
20 years in the Marine Corps, 25 years in Defense Contracting, a BSEE (Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering) and a MSEE (Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering), are quite enough education for me.
Name one thing that Newt Gingrich has ever done that is treasonous.
Before you attempt to do that, here is some much needed (education) you need to study:
Under Article III, Section 3, of the Constitution, any person who levies war against the United States or adheres to its enemies by giving them Aid and Comfort has committed treason within the meaning of the Constitution. The term aid and comfort refers to any act that manifests a betrayal of allegiance to the United States, such as furnishing enemies with arms, troops, transportation, shelter, or classified information. If a subversive act has any tendency to weaken the power of the United States to attack or resist its enemies, aid and comfort has been given.
The Treason Clause applies only to disloyal acts committed during times of war. Acts of dis-loyalty during peacetime are not considered treasonous under the Constitution. Nor do acts of Espionage committed on behalf of an ally constitute treason. For example, Julius and Ethel Rosenberg were convicted of espionage, in 1951, for helping the Soviet Union steal atomic secrets from the United States during World War II. The Rosenbergs were not tried for treason because the United States and the Soviet Union were allies during World War II.
Under Article III a person can levy war against the United States without the use of arms, weapons, or military equipment. Persons who play only a peripheral role in a conspiracy to levy war are still considered traitors under the Constitution if an armed rebellion against the United States results. After the U.S. Civil War, for example, all Confederate soldiers were vulnerable to charges of treason, regardless of their role in the secession or insurrection of the Southern states. No treason charges were filed against these soldiers, however, because President Andrew Johnson issued a universal Amnesty.
The crime of treason requires a traitorous intent. If a person unwittingly or unintentionally gives aid and comfort to an enemy of the United States during wartime, treason has not occurred. Similarly, a person who pursues a course of action that is intended to benefit the United States but mistakenly helps an enemy is not guilty of treason. Inadvertent disloyalty is never punishable as treason, no matter how much damage the United States suffers.
As in any other criminal trial in the United States, a defendant charged with treason is presumed innocent until proved guilty Beyond a Reasonable Doubt. Treason may be proved by a voluntary confession in open court or by evidence that the defendant committed an Overt Act of treason. Each overt act must be witnessed by at least two people, or a conviction for treason will not stand. By requiring this type of direct evidence, the Constitution minimizes the danger of convicting an innocent person and forestalls the possibility of partisan witch-hunts waged by a single adversary.
Unexpressed seditious thoughts do not constitute treason, even if those thoughts contemplate a bloody revolution or coup. Nor does the public expression of subversive opinions, including vehement criticism of the government and its policies, constitute treason. The First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution guarantees the right of all Americans to advocate the violent overthrow of their government unless such advocacy is directed toward inciting imminent lawless action and is likely to produce it (Brandenburg v. Ohio, 395 U.S. 444, 89 S. Ct. 1827, 23 L. Ed. 2d 430 [1969]). On the other hand, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the distribution of leaflets protesting the draft during World War I was not constitutionally protected speech (Scheck v. united states, 249 U.S. 47, 39 S. Ct. 247, 63 L. Ed. 470 [1919]).
Because treason involves the betrayal of allegiance to the United States, a person need not be a U.S. citizen to commit treason under the Constitution. Persons who owe temporary allegiance to the United States can commit treason. Aliens who are domiciliary of the United States, for example, can commit traitorous acts during the period of their domicile. A subversive act does not need to occur on U.S. soil to be punishable as treason. For example, Mildred Gillars, a U.S. citizen who became known as Axis Sally, was convicted of treason for broadcasting demoralizing propaganda to Allied forces in Europe from a Nazi radio station in Germany during World War II.
Treason is punishable by death. If a death sentence is not imposed, defendants face a minimum penalty of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine (18 U.S.C.A. § 2381). A person who is convicted of treason may not hold federal office at any time thereafter.
The English common law required defendants to forfeit all of their property, real and personal, upon conviction for treason. In some cases, the British Crown confiscated the property of immediate family members as well. The common law also precluded convicted traitors from bequeathing their property through a will. Relatives were presumed to be tainted by the blood of the traitor and were not permitted to inherit from him. Article III of the U.S. Constitution outlaws such “corruption of the blood” and limits the penalty of Forfeiture to “the life of the person attainted.” Under this provision relatives cannot be made to forfeit their property or inheritance for crimes committed by traitorous family members.
LOL
Gingrich is a Globalist traitor just like Obama:
Gingrich opens door for illegal immigrants.

“ØZebra”????
Back in September I coined the moniker “ZerØBama” after the employment numbers for August revealed zero growth.
*
I have since decided that I needed to come up with something up to date and descriptive.
*
My Grandkids and I recently went to the zoo. There, in the area reserved for animals of Africa, was a Zebra. The Grandkids wanted to know if the zebra was a black animal with white stripes, or the reverse. They also noted that the zebra looked a lot like a donkey (A s s). I told them that the a s s is representative of the Democratic party, and especially of the current White House resident.
*
Inspiration! From now on I will refer to the worst president in the history of the United States as “ØZebra”.
*
ØZebra hates the fact that his mother was a cheap, white whore. He, in turn, as evidenced by his lifetime membership in that Chicago “Gentlemen’s Club”, has shown that he is a misogynistic homosexual.
*
ØZebras’ hatred of Whites is demonstrated by his acceptance of Black Liberation Theology, as taught by his long time “minister” Jeremiah Wright.

If this post doesn’t get me on someone’s “Watch List”, nothing will. What an honor!
Marine Sgt. …. Wonderful post.. Thank you for your service . Some people should put their brain in gear before they put their mouth in motion..(including myself, sometimes)LOL…
To the moon, Newt!
yeah, to the moon Alice. Mere pandering from a CFR traitor.
I think what Newt has in mind is a Moon Base as a stop off to pick up some “Moon Pies” & then on to “the Red Planet” to bring back some “Mars Bars”.
YUM!
No more space travel but I will buy into spy sats and drones..
It both entertains, and saddens me when a commentator asks a question that requires more than a 60 second answer.
Newt doesn’t need me to defend him, but I was a youngster when JFK gave his “man on the moon” speech. I will never forget that speech.
In this age of Political Correctness, and Social Diversity it is time we became one again as a nation. It is a damned shame that it took something like “911″ to give us a common goal, a unity, be it temporary.
Newt understands this need, he also understands that with the aforementioned greatest threats to our liberty, Political Correctness(censorship)and Social Diversity(a wedge that divides never unifying)it will take a grand plan like a settlement on the moon, among other things, to bring us together.
Newt never says anything that is one dimensional. There are many benefits we have received from the space program, as it was when we were actually goal oriented.
Medical advantages in the form of new drugs, treatments. In your home hundreds of items that we take for granted. Let’s not mention the businesses that sprung up to produce those items. They actually hired people who became tax payers, not takers. Come on, you don’t think that “TANG” was the only development, did you?
The new space program would never look like the bloated, monstrosity that it has become. Currently a shadow of it’s former self, bue one born in the image, on the principal of small government conservatives favor.
Smaller, leaner, and a hell of a lot more effective. A Partnership with private enterprise, that engine that propels the Capitalistic Juggernaut that has been chained for far too long!
But I digress. We have one of two choices, at least for now we have two. We can accept the belief that government is the answer and that we must believe that our best days are behind us, or that we are a great nation with our best yet to come. A nation that feels no need to apologize for what we have, one that will not shy away from the needs of our friends, or one that is timid in the face of evil. One that is bold trusted by it’s friends, and strong so that no force on earth dare cross either. True to being one nation, under God. Nuff Said!
The choice is ours to make.
Newt, what America in 2020? By then after your massive illegal alien amnesty, it will be gone, replaced by the North American Union.
Gingrich opens door for illegal immigrants.

The Bible states that man has dominion over the earth…not space.
I was extremely disappointed when I heard that Uncle Newt wants to build a colony on the moon. He is getting too out on the fringe for me and he needs to go back to being one of our greatest conservative politicians, if he can…or will.
I do not think that the majority of Americans want a moon colony and politicians need to remember that they represent the people, not their own unrealistic dreams.
The more I think about it, the more I worry that such an endeavor will only lead to more strife for the people of this planet. Need and want are too different things and we need to stay focused on making Earth livable for everyone, not the moon.
Just think of how may people we could help with that money instead.
Better yet, a true conservative would let the wage earners keep more of their hard-earned money and allow them to decide how to spend it.
We need to take care of Earth and it’s inhabitants…period. Their is plenty of work to do. Now, find something to do, anything, besides T.V. and computer games and get to work America.
Sorry…two, not too.
