Lieberman: I Might Not Back Obama in 2012

Thursday, August 18, 2011

Sen. Joe Lieberman says he is not sure he will back President Barack Obama’s re-election bid and will wait and see who the Republicans nominate. The Connecticut independent also told Fox News’ Sean Hannity Tuesday his decision will be based on which of the candidates will be most capable of getting America’s government “back in balance.”

“Somebody asked what are you going to do in next year’s election. I said I’m an independent now and I’m going to approach it from the perspective of an independent — and I’m going to wait and see,” Lieberman said. “I got a year and a quarter — a little less than that — before I have to decide how to vote. I want to see who the Republicans nominate. This is a really important election — I don’t have to tell you.

“Some of it is about foreign policy — who is going to keep us strong in the world — and some of it, of course, is about who is going to show the leadership to get our government back in balance and the economy going again,” he said.

Hannity asked Lieberman how he judged Obama’s record and whether the senator’s support of 2008 GOP nominee Sen. John McCain hurt him among his fellow Democrats — whether he was “excoriated.”

Good for you Joe! Of course, by saying this publicly you’ve put a bullseye on your back and you’ll be in for a tough election. But in any event, I wish more politicians would be more honest and approach their mission as you do–it’s all about what’s best for America.

    • slapjack

I thought he said he will be retiring from politics. These Lying politicians have gotten me all confused!!!!! TERM LIMITS will sort this out real quick.

    • GeorgiaCowboy

The ONLY term limits we’ll ever see are the ones WE impose.

    • Dee

The people should impose term limits. If the congress has to vote on it, they sure as hell won’t. They want to protect their cushy jobs.

    • http://verizon Albert Lloyd Grounds

Captain PJ: I wonder why he hasn’t questioned his eligibility to be the president. That is more important than whether he will back him or not.

How much proof do they need to know that Obama has a phony birth certificate and a Social Security Number that is very questionable. Obama admitted to everyone on the you tube video “Not Natural Born – Truth Matters” that he was born in Kenya and confirmed by his grandmother and his wife.

Would someone tell me how a president can be reelected if he wasn’t eligible to be same the first time around. Congress needs to do their job in properly vetting this time regardless of who wins.

    • Lemonade

Congress Should Vet Obama this time if he Runs for Re election. No Exceptions.

    • BRH

Most of our politicians are just that. They will do what ever it takes to get re-elected and enrich them selves. On the other hand, we do have a few true PATRIOTS.They put the well being and good of our nation ahead of their own political careers.Unlike the politicians, mentioned above, they have integrity, and deserve to be returned to office. The politicians should be thrown out of office, never to hold office again.

    • minnie

Shame on you LIEberman, you are suppose to be backing ISRAEL, whoever backs ISRAEL is the one u should back, not someone like obama that hates ISRAEL.

    • http://PatriotUpdate rocksolid

Ditto. Its extremely important to stand by Isreal at this time.
He should give all Jews his vote of confidence by saying
whoever is for isreal will get his vote. IF AMERICA does the
same, God will take care of us as a nation.

  • American Gram

I am a conservative. That means that I will respect a person who stands for the USA, not for himself above the country. Joe Lieberman has shown himself to be a true American. Just think – what would DC be like with 535 members of congress like him! Even more, what would the country be like?!

    • slapjack

Granny, you sure you took your GERITOL and have the right person??????????????

    • CoCowboy692000

      Gram – I don’t think you’ve done your homework on Joe Lieberman…

Better spend a few hours and take a harder look!!!

  • Dodi

I hope Joe uses his head at this time when it is so important to get the arrogant ass out of the presidency, and votes for whoever is on the Republican ticket. He has nothing to lose where he is retiring. So, please Joe, do the right thing and help us get the arrogant ass out of the WH.

    • Old Moses

Lieberman will back Obama. Not to worry.

  • boboH

Please, people. Realize who and what Lieberman really is: a long standing member of the Council on Foreign Relations whose agenda is taking down of the United States of America. Lieberman has voted for every insane Liberal-Socialist bill/program/agenda and follows the CFR covert agenda tooth and nail. He is covert, he is slimy and he is downright evil. He voted for Obabmacare, raising the debt, all steps of gun control — the whole CFR/Bilderberg/UN program. Do not support or praise this slimeball. Please believe me, I’ve looked into it as I am unfortunately one of his “constituents” in Connecticut.

  • 1776_2012

Lieberman will NOT vote for Obama. No matter WHO runs against Obammy.

  • ThomNJ

Actually, I am shocked that he only said “might not” – seriously, you mean you might? You will wait to see what happens in the next year and a half – and that could in some form OUTWEIGHT WHAT HE HAS ALREADY DONE IN THE PAST TWO AND A HALF YEARS? You already know that obama cannot get the government “back in balance”. Lieberman is an idiot and a politician – but then, I repeat myself.

  • ExArmyMP

Lieberman has always been, and will always be, a Liberal. He is “conservative” only when it comes to the War on Terror (perhaps because of the implications for Israel?), but other than that he is strictly left-wing. His voting record in the Senate speaks for itself. His opposition to Obama seems to be a direct result of Obama’s lack of support for Israel and Obama’s “outreach” to the Muslim world. He seems to have no problem with Obama’s various other policies that are destroying America. I will concede, however, that “the enemy of my enemy is my friend”. We shall see what Lieberman does after the Republican candidate is selected.

    • http://x Washington22

XArmy, I’m not holding my breath…..Lieberman is a nice man but he’s on the wrong side and always has been.

    • Bree,

Yes he is a nice man Washington, and he is Jewish, very pro Israel. Obama is not and the first president in history to be against Israel. There is no reason in the world for him to vote for a president like this one.

  • James

That’s right Lieberman. Tell it that way and you may get reelected. All you democrats will be pulling that same trick. The first 3 letters of your name is “LIE.” The last 3 should be “RAT.”

  • Marina

I would vote for anyone that isn’t a demoncrat they’ve been COMMUNISTS for so long. For the last fifty years they’ve been taxing every person that works to death, just to buy blacks votes. If an ordinary white person can’t see that, then you’re too stupid to vote anyway. The only thing any white person gets is some high up white in the demoncrat pooty& the blacks. His old lady is the biggest RACIST I’ve ever see,I’ve heard some of her racist comments on utube & saw her, say them, those whitesheet & pointy head people have nothing on her.THEY’RE BOTH BIG COMMIE RACISTS & THEY CARE ABOUT NO ONE BUT THEMSELVES & RUINING THIS COUNTRY AND THEY’RE DOING A GREAT JOB.lIEBERMAN IS JUST A SIT ON THE FENCE JERK IF HE WOULD EVEN CONSIDER VOTING FOR THAT NO GOOD EVIL THING !

  • cheryl jessup

Lieberman is jewish. It should not be hard to figure out Obama has to go.

  • Jeffrey Clark

I voted for him ,because we needed change boy was I wrong won’t happen again.

    • GeorgiaCowboy

      Too little, too late.

    • No fool

But you got change!! This is what happens when you don’t do your homework first.

  • Traitors in our Gov

Leiberman didn’t endorse Obama in 2008, why would he after he showed Obummer showed us what his “CHANGE” really means…

  • blackhawk

Don’t ever believe this supposed independent.
HE is what’s wrong with Washington

  • john

  • WW2 Navy Vet

Joe is Jewish..If he backs obamanation he is backing an
    anti-Jew and worse an anti-American..Obamanation
said he favors the Islamics which hate the Jews who
are our only real allies in the mideast. I hope Joe and
every other Jewish voter realizes that fact..

  • D. Hanes

Good old, ” which side will I be on this time” Leiberman. What a joke this man is.. who inhell elects him?

  • am2sweet

I find it hard to trust someone that flip flops around. He was democratic enough to back Obama the first time around so who’s to say he won’t again. He just may not publicize it.

  • AmericansRon2U

Gee, Joe, you “might not back Obama in 2012″? Seriously? What was your FIRST CLUE that something’s wrong with the DICTATOR? You just caught on NOW? You and your ilk are clueless dunderheads and need to retire from politics…you are utterly USELESS to “we the people”!

  • guest

I am hearing of how the crime rate in europe has risen since they allowed muslim immigrates into their country especially rape and violence. But everyone is afraid to speak up because they fear of the label.racist. Obama declared he would stand with the muslims should politcal landscape turn ugly. What the heck does this mean? And i am sick of member’s of congress regardless what he’s all deciet and lies.Get rid of them all and lets start over. Can’t beleive a word they say.Am sick of politcal correctness and if you stand for common sense and truth somehow you will be labeled a racist.

  • Adrian Vance

Mr. Lieberman is an honest man and he knows Obama is the worst thing that has happened to this nation.

For sharp political analysis, science and humor see The Two Minute Conservative, Now on Kindle.

    • http://x Washington22

He is obviously NOT a sharp man, Adrian. and to boot, he’s a Jew. He should KNOW better……………….

  • marylou

Has Lieberman finally seen the “light and the error of his ways” or is he worried that he will lose Jewish financial support.

    Too hypocritical…he “may not”!
He waffles for his own benefit!

  • Faye

I can not understand why ANYONE would back him in the first place???? He is NOT good looking-is NOT smart–is a good liar–and spends everyones money like it was water!! So why did you support him when you did////

  • White Man

Lieberman puts Israel’s well being ahead of the U. S. A.! Oy Vey! Time for another Mid East war, forward march!

  • Faye

I can not understand why ANYONE would back him in the first place???? He is NOT good looking-is NOT smart–is a good liar–and spends everyones money like it was water!! So why did you support him when you did?????

  • okiejim

Joe-please say it ain’t so, that you are even considering backing Obama. Thought you had more sense than that.

Might not support Obama? What is so courageous about that kind of equivocation?

Three points to consider: One. Lieberman is a Jew. Two. Obama could not have been less friendly to Israel without actually sending in the military to roust them from their homeland. And Three. The Democrats did everything in their power to defeat him in his last election.

And, he might not support Obama? The only courage I can see in that is his having the pazaz to attend any function in Israel.

  • Ron Alford

Senator, if you haven’t learned by now that Obama is a train wreck, you never will.

  • Gapeach

If I was Jewish, I would send Lieberman an email and tell him he is a lousy Jew! How could he possibly back a president who does not back Israel? Why did he bother changing parties? Could it have been he wanted to be picked by McCain for VP??? All politicians are alike — they are only concerned about themselves.

  • Ken

If Ole Joe is so independent why do you think he votes so lockstep with the Demo’s?

  • Michael

“Might not”? You’re not smart enough, yet. Maybe when you say “will not” you might get some attention.
