Bachmann Says She is “Comeback Kid”

Thursday, September 29, 2011

U.S. Republican presidential candidate, Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN), speaks at the California Republican Party fall convention in Los Angeles.

Republican presidential hopeful Michele Bachmann, struggling to reverse a slide in opinion polls, told evangelical Christians on Wednesday that she would be “the comeback kid” in the nomination race.

During a stop at Liberty University, Bachmann shrugged off her recent campaign troubles and vowed to turn around her White House bid with a heavy focus on conservative Iowa and South Carolina.

“We intend to be the comeback kid in this race,” Bachmann told reporters after a speech at Liberty, which bills itself as the largest evangelical Christian university and is a frequent stop for presidential candidates.

“In races you have ups and downs, and we are on the upswing now,” she said. “We have a very strong base of support in Iowa, we’re going to continue to build on that base of support, and we’ve spent a lot of time in South Carolina too.”

Michele is a fighter and she is a true Constitutional and social conservative. I will hang in there with her until the end. And if she decides to withdraw from the race, I know she has the honor and integrity to bow out gracefully and lend her support to the nominee whomever it will be. Michele Bachmann is a class act.

    • CE

I agree, she is a class act; that doesn’t make her qualified to be President. She has a total lack of management or big business experience and has no evidence of real leadership ability in her background; these attributes are essential if we are not to again have amateur city in the White House.

Michele Bachmann she had been “faithful” to her pledge not to request federal earmarks. But she requested $40 million in transportation earmarks in the 2009 fiscal year budget after taking the pledge, later claiming such projects should not be subjected to her promise. She withdrew her requests after the House Republicans took a party position in 2010 not to seek earmarks.

On her victory lap of Iowa yesterday, Straw Poll winner Rep. Michele Bachmann paid repeated tribute to her local roots, and repeatedly mentioned her family reunion that day, citing it as an excuse for her late arrival at a local party event in Waterloo.

But Bachmann’s mother and two cousins told POLITICO’s Emily Schultheis that Bachmann didn’t attend the reunion, though her husband and children did. Her spokeswoman, Alice Stewart, didn’t respond to two emails asking for an explanation of the disparity.

Michele has a record of voting and that record indicates she is a true conservative. No other Presidential Candidate has a record of voting. All we have is what they say. Even as a governor you don’t really have a record of how they would vote. Our governor killed any chance of passing any illegal immigration bills by not alloting money for enforcement of these bills. Do you think the general public knows this? No! Only constitutients that keep up with the legislation for our state realize what he has done.

    • daves

She voted for the Patriot Act.

    • nax777

Until we get a handle on immigration what would you suggest?

Ten million, 20 million, 30 million, 40 million… Hello Sharia flag, for English please press 2!
P.S. Did you vote this week at “you cut”?

Despite explaining to Sean Hannity that she is neither a doctor nor a scientist, people who are doctors and scientists are holding Michele Bachmann responsible for her extremely questionable anecdote suggesting a link between a young girl’s HPV vaccine and her subsequent “mental retardation.” While University of Pennsylvania bio-ethicist Arthur Caplan is now publicly offering Bachmann $10,000 to produce evidence to back up her story, physician groups have been issuing a steady stream of statements intended to combat her claims:

“Since the vaccine has been introduced (in 2006), more than 35 million doses have been administered, and it has an excellent safety record,” Dr. O. Marion Burton, president of the American Academy of Pediatrics, said in a statement.

According to Dr. Kenneth Alexander, a University of Chicago Medical Center pediatric infectious disease expert, the outcry is not about politics:

“There are people out there who, because of this kind of misinformation, aren’t going to get their daughter immunized … As a result, there will be more people who die from cervical cancer.”

    • Dodi

How about keeping 12 year old girls from having sex. That too will keep them from getting cervical cancer.

    • daves

The vaccine lasts much longer than a year.

    • http://! Bobcat

she is sticking with her guns, she’s not two face like some of those others

  • Eddie B

    Bachman,Palin,Cain,Santorum……I’ll take them in any order…..bottom line…..conservative and non-estalishment.

Michele Bachmann falsely claimed that she and her husband “have never gotten a penny” from a family farm that received federal subsidies. But she reported income from the farm in 2006, 2008 and 2009 — the most recent year available — on her congressional financial disclosure statements.

  • Tammie M

Go Michele Go!!!! If you do not get the nomination, I hope the chosen one has the sense to make you VP. God Bless you & God Bless America! GO Liberty U – my alma mater & the best university in the world by far!!

    • daves

Michele Bachmann claimed government money received by her husband’s counseling clinics did not benefit the business, because the funds paid for employee training. It’s true the clinics received $24,041 for training, but the business received thousands more in government funds, including money for treating crime victims.

Her base is very narrow and shallow.
Furthermore, she has a habit making
“interesting” claims. As a congresswomenyou are only responsible
for a district out of 435 in the
nation. Her experience is very limited.
She is a great lady. However, she would
not have the funds to compete. South carolina has many christians there. when
she go from there to Florida. She would have less supporters.

  • Ltjg

I agree with Captain. Bachmann is a Class Act and a Conservative. She has my full support. She stays consistant. She is my alternative to my first choice Palin. Things could change “IF” Sarah decides to run.

  • Jim Lundberg

Bachmann is the next best thing to Ron Paul. She should stay in the race!

  • Limestone Freedom

I like Bachmann, but I would still put Ron Paul and Herman Cain ahead of her right now, just thinking about what they could accomplish for the country. As a team Paul and Cain would bring experience from the medical world, the business world, and the political world.

  • Greg

I am feed up with these so called conservatives, instead of backing a true conservative, Michele Bachmann, they start yelling for Christy a semi-R.I.N.O.. Don’t they know that Rep. Bachmann started a Program in congress to educate people including congress as to what the consitution says. She strongly stands for the values and the foundation this country was founded on. I get the feeling they really do not want a strong conservative. If they did Rep. Bachmann would be ahead in the polls. Do they really want another touchy feely R.I.N.O.?

  • tod

    Dr.Ron Paul 2012 !!!

  • Ickie

    Michelle Bachmaan 2012!!!

  • Howard-the Banger Club

    Keep praying for our nation

Michelle Bachmann functions on a similar plane as other female leaders, namely, Indhira Ghandi, Golda Meir and Margaret Thatcher. Michelle has my unyielding financial and moral support. I hope and pray that her status rises until she reaches the nomination. She has the proper perspectives to demolish the present socialistic, muslim apologist who now resides in OUR white house.

  • randellmd

IF anything among many things she knows what to do about is how to fix the education system. One of the main issues that needs to be dealt with immediately upon getting in office.

  • Exposes Globes

Anyone that votes against American Constitutional Freedom, is not on “We the Peoples”, side!

Use your head, clear out the fog – she voted to keep our Freedom away from us!

She voted for the Patriot Act! The IRS lady is on the Oligarchs side of the fence!

  • Dodi

I think it was rotten of Perry to announce he was running when he did. What was one of Michele’s big moments was overshadowed by his announcement. And, I’m quite sure that was what he was looking for.

  • tncdel

Bachman has the BEST rating on opposing illegal immigration from NumbersUSA of ANY presidential candidate: a B minus.

Perry was rated a D minus.

    Ron Paul an F!

    Obama an F MINUS!

Bachmann also ISN’T tied in with the NWO’s “Bilderberg Group,” as are Perry, Cain and Romney.

If she was smart, she would ask Allen West to be her VP.

    • Bree,

Yes tncdel, she is smart and she is more than qualified. If we really want to debate qualifications we can certainly add to your list and she rates 10 to 1 over Obama. Come on people don’t forget what’s sitting in the White House expecting to stay another 4 years! Come on Michele, we need you more than ever. Be the comeback kid!

  • Ron Powell

Judicial Watch has filed lawsuits in the past involving the use of Gardisil and have been trying to obtain records regarding the number of deaths attributed to its use. To force a vaccine that has questionable safety record on anyone is unconscionable. In 2008 alone Judicial Watch obtained records from the FDA indicating 28 people had died as a result of Gardisil vaccine. Michelle may not have known the specifics but she knew what she was talking about—Daves doesn’t…he would have you believe the FDA will take care of you and protect you-WRONG.

    • daves

Why is she back peddling and even denied her comment at the debate?

More people will die because of what she said, plain and simple.
