Energy Secretary Chu Takes Full Responsibility for Solyndra

Thursday, November 17, 2011

Energy Secretary Steven Chu will accept full responsibility Thursday for the decision to risk $535 million on Solyndra, the government-supported solar panel manufacturer that shut its doors earlier this year laying off 1,100 workers, and is now the subject of multiple federal investigations.

“As the Secretary of Energy, the final decisions on Solyndra were mine, and I made them with the best interest of the taxpayer in mind,” Chu has written in testimony prepared for his first appearance before Congress to answer questions about the failed loan.

“I want to be clear: over the course of Solyndra’s loan guarantee, I did not make any decision based on political considerations,” says Chu’s prepared testimony, which was made public by his aides late Wednesday. “My decision to guarantee a loan to Solyndra was based on the analysis of experienced professionals and on the strength of the information they had available to them at the time.”

Chu’s testimony before a House Energy and Commerce subcommittee that has been investigating the loan is expected to be followed by pointed questions from Republican members who have been highly critical of the Solyndra loan. The loan to the California energy firm was at one time held up by the Obama administration as a model of the president’s plan to infuse start-up clean energy firms with federal support in hopes of sprouting a vibrant new high tech industry.

More nonsence. Experienced Professional Advisors my foot. Chu is dummer than he looks if he expects me to beleive this story. He is a Stooge for Obama being used as a cover up. I wonder how much money he is being paid to take all the heat?

    • Raymond

      Hi Ltjg,
      You’re up early.

    • Ltjg

Morning Raymond, Yes, the dogs got me up at 4AM. How are you today?

    • Raymond

I get up everyday around 5am to get ready
for work.. Somebody has to support those
      lazy Obama supporters. ☹

    • Ltjg

I have always said that a twelve hour day is only half the day.

Boy, have you got it right!

They always get one stoolie to take the fall and go on as if nothing has happened.

How dumb can these stoolies be?

    • Are you Serious

How much you ask? Let’s just say he will never have to worry about money again. It pays to take one for the team.

    • Joanne Edmiston

To Ltjg : Only a simpleton would consider taking the rap for Obama at this point! Chu wouldn’t say who those “experienced professionals” are. I say we press him for those names then do an expose on them. Now is the time for kicking a** and taking names.
      P.S. Hi Raymond !

  • DIQ

He will be the fall guy for O. Just wait til he talks and answers questions at his hearing. This admin. really expects us John Q Publics to have no brains. Chu needs ‘to go’ along with many others in this administration. 2012 cannot come fast enough!

    VIN Number – Warning

Here is info worth the price of your car…. what WILL the car thieves think of & next?

The car thieves peer through the windshield of your car or vehicle, write down the VIN# from the label on the dash, go to the local car dealership and request a duplicate key based on the VIN#

I didn’t believe this e-mail, so I called Chrysler-Dodge and pretended I had lost my keys.
They told me to just bring in the VIN#, and they would cut me one on the spot, and I could order the keyless device if I wanted.

The Car Dealer’s Parts Department will make a duplicate key from the VIN #, and collect payment from the thief who will return to your vehicle.

He doesn’t have to break in, do any damage to the vehicle, or draw attention to himself.
All he has to do is walk up to your car, insert the key and off he goes to a local chop shop with your vehicle.

You don’t believe it? It is that easy.

To avoid this from happening to you, simply put some dark tape (electrical tape, duct tape or medical tape) across the VIN Number Metal Label located on the dashboard.

By law, you cannot remove the VIN, but you can cover it so it can’t be viewed through the windshield by a car thief.

I urge you to forward this to your friends before some other car thief steals another car or truck.

I slipped a 3×5 card over my VIN NUMBER.

Not totally accurate information. You can check it out at several sites on line. If a thief wants your car, trust me, he will get.

    • Joanne Edmiston

Raymond: if you haven’t posted this on CiR yet please do so !!
I’m definitely going to cover up the vin# on my car.
Thanks for the “heads up” !

A true politician before and after Solydra. Just ask all the employees who had their paychecks fozen for three years plus because this fool wanted to kiss Obama’s a-s-s when Obama said “there’s no inflation”. The rising prices of gas, food and utilities, etc is just your imaginations. This is not the first time his nose will be brown and I’m sure it won’t be the last.

  • Ltjg

If eighty percent of All green energy loans went back to Obamas major contributers that should tell us something.

  • brunch20

China has controled the market on solar panels for years. There is no way that we can compete with their costs. What kind of experts do we have in the energy department or was there a money deal between Solendra and the bueracrats?

  • Another Veteran

Chu is a patsy for Obama and will more than liekly take the fall. Obama is the one that visited Solyndra and hob-knobed with the top bras in that country and now at senate hearings they take the fifth amendment to avoid telling where the money is and where and who it ultimately came from. And as for Chu’s comment that educated and professionals ok’d the deal is nonsense. If tha tis the case, Obama is surounded by idiots.

    • TheThinMan

Obama is not surrounded by idiots – Obama is surrounded by Socialists and Communists. Oath Breakers, thieves and Liars.

  • LadyLiberty

Okay, so when does he get promoted? LOL

  • tod

So in the end he retires with a half a million a year,or more, and no jail time.

    • Are you Serious

Or he goes to jail and takes in the end a half a million times a year. Sounds fair to me.

    • Joanne Edmiston

To tod : Man! That kinda crap has GOT to stop !
When are we ever going to hold someone, other than ordinary citizens, responsible for their actions !
This country is SO ruled by elitists who think they can get away scott free.

  • Are you Serious

Takes it in the end. Lol

  • TheThinMan

Admittedly he is as guilty as any – but he is NOT the ultimate the buck stops here – that is Obama and the Payback he gave them for supporting him.
