Being Canadian? Ain’t nobody got time for that, including Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas).
Just hours after releasing his Canadian birth certificate, the Texan revealed his plans to renounce his citizenship from the United States’ northern neighbor, as The Dallas Morning News reported.
“Nothing against Canada, but I’m an American by birth and as a U.S. senator, I believe I should be only an American,” he said in a statement.
Born in Canada to an American mother and Cuban father, Cruz was immediately granted dual citizenship in Canada and the United States — a fact that apparently surprised the Texan.
