“Israel was not created in order to disappear—Israel will endure and flourish. It is the child of hope and home of the brave. It can neither be broken by adversity nor demoralized by success. It carries the shield of democracy and it honors the sword of freedom.” -John F. Kennedy
Israel is special. In fact, Israel is the only nation that is God’s chosen nation and people. If you believe in God or not, Israel needs unconditional support from America. Israel is by far America’s greatest ally and we can benefit from continuing our alliance with them. The Obama administration’s support for Israel varies from day to day; all dependent on Obama’s temperament. It would appear that Obama prefers to support Israel’s compliance with terrorists, rather than defending herself from attacks.
Every day, Israel lives in a constant state of fear from being attacked. Can you imagine if America were bombed daily? How would Obama respond? Or would Obama even notice? Thank God that Israel has a strong leader like Benjamin Netanyahu!
In Genesis 26: 1-3, God makes this promise to Israel and to those who support her: “Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee: And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.”
From the time of Adam’s fall, nations have been attempting in vain to wipe Israel off the face of the earth. As promised in God’s Word, Israel will never cease to exist. God will protect His beloved people. Israel is the most hated nation in the world. Adolf Hilter did his best to eradicate them. As Christian author Dave Hunt wisely stated, “Hilter attempted to kill the brains of the world.” Nations have benefited greatly from Israel’s wisdom, innovation and inventions. Yet, Israel gets blamed on a daily basis for the unrest in the Middle East.
“Americans admire a people who can scratch a desert and produce a garden. The Israelis have shown qualities that Americans identify with: guts, patriotism, idealism, a passion for freedom. I have seen it. I know. I believe that.” –Richard Nixon
Israel, more than any other nation, desires to have peace. They have tried everything to attain it, even giving up land that God gave to them. In this latest conflict, Hamas…not Israel, has been the instigator of violence. Hamas uses civilians as human shields. Hamas is going into water and electricity plants drawing Israel to hit those plants to shut down power. Hamas will stop at nothing to destroy Israel. Israel, on the other hand, goes above and beyond to avoid civilian deaths by giving leaflets, making phone calls, aborting airstrikes, roof knocking and using pinpoint strikes. See the difference? Israel should never be blamed for merely defending herself.
As the conflict in the Middle East escalates, Americans need to pray for Israel. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem, which is Jesus Christ. Israel is promised true peace when Jesus comes to reign on David’s throne during the Millennium period. Until that time comes, America must continue to support Israel. We mustn’t waiver in our support for our greatest and most faithful ally.
“For more than a generation, the United States and Israel have been steadfast allies. Our nations are bound by our shared values and a strong commitment to freedom. These ties that have made us natural allies will never be broken. Israel and the United States share a common history: We are both nations born of struggle and sacrifice. We are both founded by immigrants escaping religious persecution in other lands. Through the labors and strides of generations, we have both built vibrant democracies, founded in the rule of law and market economies. And we are both countries established with certain basic beliefs: that God watches over the affairs of men and values every human life.” –George W. Bush
