LA Premiere of Runaway Slave on MLK weekend offers a revealing look inside the new Underground Railroad and the fight to free black America from economic slavery.

The premiere of the brilliant documentary Runaway Slave takes place this Friday, January 13 at the Landmark Regent Theater in Los Angeles.  Tickets for this event are FREE but seating is extremely limited and will sell out very quickly so go to brownpapertickets.com to reserve your tickets now.

The documentary is an extraordinary look at the unique struggles Conservative blacks have in America and features interviews with some of the greatest minds of our generation.

The producers purposely chose to launch Runaway Slave on Martin Luther King Jr. weekend to help answer the question, “Have blacks in America achieved the dream of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and become truly ‘Free at Last?’”  Runaway Slave exposes the economic slavery of the black community to the ‘progressive,’ big-government policies of the Left.

According to pastor and former NAACP Chapter President C.L. Bryant, there is a “new underground railroad” through which African Americans are finding freedom from an ingrained cultural acceptance of entitlements and big government.

“There is a 50-year-old lie that has caused an entire people to become slaves to the political idea that government knows what is best.” Rev. Bryant said.  “Runaway Slave will empower black Americans to free themselves from generations of enslavement to a tyrannical economic system.”

The film features interviews from prominent black conservatives including Herman Cain and Thomas Sowell, as well as activists from all over the country. It is sure to spark an honest political discussion unlike anything the U.S. has seen in 50 years.    Cain says in the film, “The increasing size and scope of the federal government is the new plantation.”

Rev. Bryant has teamed up with critically-acclaimed Producer Luke Livingston and Director Pritchett Cotten for the making of Runaway Slave.   Livingston featured a powerful Tea Party speech by Bryant to provide the inspiraitonal close his 2009 film Tea Party: The Documentary. Filming and editing for Runaway Slave took a little over a year start to finish.  Shooting took place in many major cities across America, including Israel.

“We are incredibly excited to be a part of this project,” said Matt Kibbe, president of FreedomWorks. The national grassroots organization is helping support this important film.

Runaway Slave is a film for all Americans. If you love your country, if you love the ideas that this country was founded on, then you should see this movie.”

Patriot Update and PolitiChick’s Ann-Marie Murrell will cover the red carpet at the Los Angeles screening, interviewing stars of the film including Herman Cain and many Hollywood celebrities.

The film will be shown in select theatres nationwide following the upcoming premiere at the soon to be announced first ever American Black Conservative Conference in Washington DC.

I cannot wait to see this Runaway Slave movie. I grew up down South. Worked in the cotton fields on our farm with Negroes. I have five years of college. Spent 34 years with a major industry in 2nd line management. I saw a few blacks rise up to middle management on their own bootstraps to get into upper management. In fact, I worked for two of them. No problems. For the major portion of the blacks, the Democrats and our liberal education system has taught them that the government has all the answers and they cannot think for themselves. Also, whitey owes them. I have never owned any slaves, nor do I know anyone who has. Get rid of most of these liberal government welfare type programs, kick some asses, create an envoronment to create jobs and put more people back to work. All races!
God help this wayward nation and get back to the constitution which allows people to be self sufficient! Welfare belongs to the individuals, communities, churches, cities, counties and states which did a better job in the past to administer to the needs of the poor, etc., (the poor will always be with us). Much more efficient than the big Federal Government that trickles down pennies on the dollar to the needy, after all the beaucratic overhead and waste. God help us to smell the liberal’s coffee and progressives as they are!

Hopefully this Documentary will educate the masses, all ethnicities. My hero Booker T. Washington stated that slavery was wicked and took an aweful toll on-whites.After 1865 many that were once on plantations could not function in the world;they had no skills, little education and were in trouble. He was up-set with the “system” of slavery. We should be up-set as well,in 2012 at the “system”.

I didn’t write this one, but I wish I had.
    REMEMBER JANUARY 3, 2007
The day the Democrats took over was not January 22nd 2009, it was actually January 3rd 2007, the day the Democrats took over the House of Representatives and the Senate, at the very start of the 110th Congress.
The Democratic Party controlled a majority in both chambers for the first time since the end of the 103rd Congress in 1995 For those who are listening to the liberals propagating the fallacy that everything is “Bush’s Fault”, think about this:
January 3rd, 2007, the day the Democrats took over the Senate and the Congress:
The DOW Jones closed at 12,621.77
The GDP for the previous quarter was 3.5%
    The Unemployment rate was 4.6%
George Bush’s Economic policies SET A RECORD of 52 STRAIGHT MONTHS of JOB CREATION!
By the way GWB had Nothing to do with the GM bailout MR. Obama did all of that not GW!!!!!!!!!
    Remember that day…
January 3rd, 2007 was the day that Barney Frank took over the House Financial Services Committee and Chris Dodd took over the Senate Banking Committee.
The economic meltdown that happened 15 months later was in what part of the economy?
    BANKING AND FINANCIAL SERVICES!
THANK YOU DEMOCRATS (especially Barney ) for taking us from 13,000 DOW, 3.5 GDP and 4.6% Unemployment…to this CRISIS by (among MANY other things) dumping 5-6 TRILLION Dollars of toxic loans on the economy from YOUR Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac FIASCOES!
(BTW: Bush asked Congress 17 times to stop Fannie & Freddie – starting in 2001 because it was financially risky for the US economy). Barney blocked it and called it a “Chicken Little Philosophy” (and the sky did fall!)
And who took the THIRD highest pay-off from Fannie Mae AND Freddie Mac? OBAMA
And who fought against reform of Fannie and Freddie?
OBAMA and the Democrat Congress, especially BARNEY!!!!
So when someone tries to blame Bush…
REMEMBER JANUARY 3rd, 2007….THE DAY THE DEMOCRATS TOOK OVER!”
Bush may have been in the car but the Democrats were in charge of the gas pedal and steering wheel they were driving the economy into the ditch. Budgets do not come from the White House. They come from Congress and the party that controlled Congress since January 2007 is the Democratic Party.
Furthermore, the Democrats controlled the budget process for 2008 & 2009 as well as 2010 & 2011.
In that first year, they had to contend with George Bush, which caused them to compromise on spending, when Bush somewhat belatedly got tough on spending increases.
For 2009 though, Nancy Pelosi & Harry Reid bypassed George Bush entirely, passing continuing resolutions to keep government running until Barack Obama could take office. At that time, they passed a massive omnibus spending bill to complete the 2009 budget.
And where was Barack Obama during this time? He was a member of that very Congress that passed all of these massive spending bills, and he signed the omnibus bill as President to complete 2009. Let’s remember what the deficits looked like during that period:
If the Democrats inherited any deficit, it was the 2007 deficit, the last of the Republican budgets. That deficit was the lowest in five years, and the fourth straight decline in deficit spending. After that, Democrats in Congress took control of spending, and that includes Barack Obama, who voted for the budgets.
If Obama inherited anything, he inherited it from himself.
In a nutshell, what Obama is saying is “I inherited a deficit that I voted for, And then I voted to expand that deficit four-fold since January 20th.”
There is no way this will be widely publicized, unless each of us sends it on!
“The problems we face today exist because the people who work for a living are outnumbered by those who vote for a living.”
That my friends constitutes socialism…a welfare state.

At last the truth is coming out. It is amazing how long they have kept the myth going that they are for the downtrodden and minorities. They are both worse off than ever.
