How Stimulus Monies Are Radiating You

smart meter

Smart meters are being installed stealthily by water, gas and electric utility companies on houses and buildings across the country. Despite that, the majority of the public still doesn’t know about their potential health risks.

From the moment smart meters began to be installed, a rash of serious health complaints in each community has followed — to date, largely going unheeded by officials. These aren’t hysteria or hype, but bona fide national health concerns about what is being emitted from smart meters and their cumulative effects on “electrosmog” in our homes. In short, electrosmog is pollution through electromagnetic energy. It is being produced by this vast post-Edison world, in which electromagnetic fields and flows have inundated the space around us.

And smart meters, one of the newest and most pervasive emitters of electrosmog, are being funded by the federal stimulus monies and being strapped to your house. They are basically digital devices that record electrical energy, water or natural gas used by consumers and then transmit that information back to a utility company. They replace the analog dial meter and therefore eliminate the need for a utility worker to read and record the data.

Utility companies pitch them as a regulation aid for consumers, but many are questioning the real value of that benefit, especially in light of the meters’ potential health risks. While utility companies promise rewards for customers who shift energy use to off-peak periods, health experts are saying there are no savings when your health is in jeopardy.

Of course, utility companies are downplaying the possible health risks. For example, Pacific Gas and Electric Co. explains on its website that its SmartMeter is “a small 1-watt radio that … transmits relatively weak radio signals (which resemble) those of many other products most people use every day, like cell phones, baby monitors and microwave ovens.”

PG&E cites a January report from the California Council on Science and Technology, which stated that no additional standards are needed to protect the public from smart meters. But the company fails to note that in April, in the final version of the same report, the CCST concluded: “Not enough is currently known about potential non-thermal impacts of radio frequency emissions to identify or recommend additional standards for such impacts. … It is not scientifically confirmed whether or what the non-thermal effects on living organisms, and potentially, human health might be.”

The individual radiation levels of smart meters are not the only issue that warrants our attention; the cumulative level of all the electromagnetic-radiation-emitting devices within our proximity is important. As the CCST report concluded, “concerns about human health impacts of RF emissions from smart meters should be considered in this broader context,” especially because each one includes a second transmitter that will be initiated sometime for further monitoring.

Utility companies claim that radio frequency emissions from a smart meter are comparable to those from a microwave oven, but they fail to disclose that smart meters are, according to the CCST, “a relay among other smart meters and utility access points”; hence, unlike microwaves, they can be transmitting information and emitting RF waves 24 hours a day.

And experts have shown there are adverse effects to long-term exposure to RF emissions. For example, Dr. David Carpenter, who was the head of the New York State Department of Health for 18 years, administered a program studying the effects of electromagnetic fields. Carpenter, who is now the director of the Institute for Health and the Environment, recently rebutted utility companies’ claims that smart meters have no negative health effects by explaining, “We have evidence from a whole variety of other sources of radio frequency exposure that demonstrates convincingly and consistently that exposure to radio frequency radiation at elevated levels for long periods of time increases the risk of cancer, increases the damage to the nervous system, causes electro-sensitivity (and) has adverse reproductive effects and a variety of other effects on different organ systems.”

Beyond health concerns are the questionable liberty and consumer violations, as we are being misled and forced to attach radiation-emitting devices on our houses and businesses. The CCST explains how that domestic mandate was the result of an overreach by the nanny state: “The federal government has required utilities to take steps to implement smart grid networks, including the use of smart meters.”

Interestingly, again according to the CCST, “some California utilities … have received significant federal funding for smart meter deployment from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (federal stimulus package).” Your tax dollars hard at work authorizing more electrosmog into your home! Smart grids might sound green, but forcing increased levels of nonionizing radiation isn’t exactly a widespread deployment of eco-friendly and healthier renewable energy.

Smart meters pose not only an American health problem but also a global one. Since 2000, millions have been installed in Italy, Japan, Canada, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Australia, New Zealand and beyond. And since 2005 in the U.S., there has been an onslaught of smart meters. Millions have been fastened to the sides of our homes and businesses from sea to shining sea. If the wave of meters has not infiltrated your neighborhood yet, consider this article a fair warning for attachments coming soon to your home.

The way I see it, we as consumers have a choice. Will we believe countless specialists who are saying smart meters are, at the very least, unnecessary health risks and contributors to overall electrosmog, or will we believe public utility companies and the feds, which have divested interests in the installation of smart meters and say they are harmless to our health and are being mandated by law to save us money?

The “Time of usage meters” radiate your family.

Sure makes it easier to find the kids in the dark.

Next people, is a GPS in every car so the govt can track all of us tax payers, but not the criminals!!! JUST WAIT & SEE !!!!!
Insurance co.s are already pushing this, have you noticed???

    • Bob

Don’t laugh! It is already here. By VIN #, you can be tracked if you own a newer car. The police can retrieve data from the computer, such as speed, braking, etc. It is in my owners hand book. Big brother is definitely watching. If I want to do something stupid, I just climb into my Olds Golden Rocket. (54 years old)

    • dcgirl

Just one more reason to keep my 2000 Town Car instead of getting a new car.

    • Whackajig

Sure Patriot and unAmerican, I will accomodate you and say something you might be able to understand.

      Is your problem with me:

I am better looking than you?

I am more affluent than you?

I am better loved than you?

      obama does not like me?

Check all that apply and send to “Who gives a”

  • Dean

I have had these meters on my house for at least 5 years and my wife and I have had no adverse effects.

  • Ford

I would rather have these meters then have a reader tracing through my yard disturbing me and leaving the gates open.

    • patriot2

meter readers losing their jobs & I’ll bet your bill didn’t even go down.the gov is involved & I’m suspicious of anything they do “to help the people”.

    • http://Facebook Que Dub

The govt doesn’t do anything unless it benefits them!

    • Bob

Just ask Stalin —- oops, I meant Obammer.

    • http://facebook Ruby Franks

      A big amen to that.

  • Tom Stewart

Wake-Up Tax Payers If The Fed Govt Is Involved Forget It, Please. Maybe Hang A Truth-Meter On Every DC Politican. God Bless America And The Tea Party Patriots, With Sarah Palin POTUS.

    • Colleen

Good idea! And if they lie, instead of his/her nose growing, how about a nice shock from their collars??

    • patriot2

Tom,I’m with you all the way,but the politicians would probably find a way to defeat the “lie meters”,or have to find another line of work.go America, tea party,& Sarah Palin!

  • ARMYOF69

Get some mumetal and cover the meter with it. That will stop radiating any signal outwards. MUMETAL is available in various thicknesses.

    • ARMYOF69

Oh yeah, forgot to mention, that is nonsense. There is no really measurable transmission coming out of those meters. If you really believe that, please make up a cone made of the mumetal and wear it. Might start a new fashion, never can tell.

  • The Thistle Patch

That is the typical reasoning and thoughts of the “sheepeople” Well when you, Your children or other members or your family have Terminal Cancer “REMEMBER” how you made a good joke about it. Also that You didn’t want some one leaving your gates open or disturbing you.
What has happened to the Population or this country? Now I see how easy it has been for the like Bill Ayers, Obama Pelosi, Reid, Clinton among many others of their kind to do what they are doing. Destroying this country, stealing our wealth and brain washing our youth The Thing that really upsets me is that I fought Two tours in Combat so you could have the right to be Idiots……….. Stop the Insanity..Freedom isn’t Free …..SEMPER FI…..

    • Bob

Semper Fi to you. I am a retired squid, but just happen to love the Marines.

    • The Thistle Patch

LOL Bob; A SQUID I can’t believe you called yourself “OUR” name for the NAVY. That is like me calling myself A Sea Going Bellhop…LOL. But nice to meet you Bob. Today I would tell you now that I’M not so young or Gung-ho, That WE were both in the Military serving the same Country. Wouldn’t have admitted it 45 years ago but we were both a part of the same NAVY.

  • Colleen

There is one other concern. Now I haven’t read the link posted in the article just yet. But here is another concern I would advise those with implanted pacemakers and defibrillatiors: check with your company rep on the radio frequency (rf) emissions and any possible interaction you may have with your device and the rf emitted.
Some may have problems if in close enough proximity and if (and that is a big IF) the emission of rf is high enough. There is documented evidence of problems with implanted devices and rf energy.

You can thank the phony-baloney environmentalists for this. They have corrupted science making CO2 a “poison gas.”

CO2 is a “trace gas” in air, insignificant by definition, 1/7th the absorber of IR, heat energy, from sunlight as water vapor which has 80 times as many molecules capturing 560 times as much heat or 99.8% of all “global warming.” CO2 does only 0.2% of it.

Carbon combustion generates 80% of our energy. Control and taxing of carbon would give the elected ruling class more power and money than anything since the Magna Carta of 1215 AD.

The problem is not that the people who we elect “rule” us, but rather it is how they rule us.

Only the purest of idiots would advocate that we have no need for elected government officials. What we need though, is for those we elect to do the bidding of the people.

  • Larry

With what the public is exposed to every day of there life for more than 30 years now and the new sources that will be used in the future of so called life saving devices like the one that the older people wear in case they fall and can’t get up. These are all called life saving devices so they are not used in the study’s. If we listen to everyone then it is jest like the egg scare and if you did eat more than two or three a week you are going to die early. We have heard this about all of our food and then they find that they were wrong so they tell us we can live longer if we have them more often. Jest like the germs that build up a resistance to many antibiotics the human body does much the same way as the germs we build a resistance to many of the things that harm us.

Do you smoke and do drugs?

Remember , in any progressive socialist or communist ” utopia ” the lowest commen denominator , thus the least important , is the individual human being . Everthing else takes precedence over us hobbits .

  • ARMYOF69

Some Americans will believe anything. Especially those who believed in ” CHANGE”.

  • am2sweet

I’m really surprised that the bunny huggers would allow something like that. These enviromentalists are so concerned about what we are doing to the earth just by driving around that to actually have something like that which is supposedly unhealthful for us has to also be unhealthy for the animals. If I see anything ‘extra’ added on around our house I’m taking an axe to it.

    • Whackajig

I don’t know if the people on this board are aware of the tremendous paper shortage due to the wacko tree huggers protests.

Toilet paper is now becoming so scarce that officials are recommending that you use a spotted owl to wipe your butt.

JOBS JOBS JOBS … There go a few more and real public service jobs … smart meters are basically digital devices that record electrical energy, water or natural gas used by consumers and then transmit that information back to a utility company. They … eliminate the need for a utility worker to read and record the data.

    • Bob

The meters are used for much more than recording your usage. How can they shut off you air conditioning at will, when you opt for the energy saving plan? Read up on these new meters — they suck!

    • Whackajig

Yeah, down with technology. The buggy drivers are protesting the introduction of motorized transportation.

Nearly all new devices eliminate some old jobs, but they also create new ones at the same time.

  • PatInDelaware

If you have a microwave over older than 3 years old you are exposed to 100 time more EMF than your electric meter. Get an EMF detector, borrow one from your utility company, and do your own research. This is debunked.

  • john

Another way to us technology to track us, what next? They goignto check the Sat dish to see if we watch FOX news?

    • Rick Toronto

I had to call my local cable company several times to get FOX even tough I was paying for it. Each time they told me that I was the only one to ask for it…pure BS. They control each neighborhood separately. Someone has to complain before they add it. Several of my neighbors told me about FOX (after I complained). We use satellite and internet now to boycott that company.

  • nvrpc

If you are worried about this then give up your cell phone and remove yourself from the face of the earth. Do you have any idea of how many microwaves are passing through your body this very minute 24-7 no matter where you are from GPS, cell phone towers, everyday radio transmissions, tv station, transponders of all types, radar, etc,etc etc

  • Rick Toronto

If they save money, why are they coupled with immediate price hikes? 6 percent hikes to all PGE customers plus hikes to time of day usage and that means businesses especially. That means higher prices on all goods sold in the USA.

    • Whackajig

Generate your own electrical power and then you will have no reason to whine about how much it costs. You could install a decent system at your home for about 100 grand. Payback in just weeks.
