Obama Camp Lied About New Party Membership

To this day, Obama, his supporters and the mainstream media maintain that President Obama is not a socialist.

It’s been known since before Obama was elected, however, that he had some sort of connection to the New Party, a far-left socialist group in Chicago whose goal was to drag American politics leftward and establish a socialist nation by infiltrating the Democratic Party.

In 2008, the charge that Obama had sought the New Party endorsement for office or had been a member was called a “crackpot smear” by the Obama campaign. Writer Ben Smith at Politico printed an article quoting New Party founder Joel Rogers, who said that the New Party didn’t have members, therefore Obama couldn’t have been one.

This past week, National Review author Stanley Kurtz uncovered minutes from a New Party meeting in 1996 that said Obama sought an endorsement and became a member:

“Barack Obama, candidate for State Senate in the 13th Legislative District, gave a statement to the membership and answered questions. He signed the New Party ‘Candidate Contract’ and requested an endorsement from the New Party. He also joined the New Party.”

On Friday, Smith conceded that the new information proves the White House was at least wrong in 2008 about the endorsement.

Rogers is sticking by his assertion that the New Party didn’t have members.

However, the New Party website, which can still be found in Internet archives, make it clear that the New Party not only had members but expected them to financially support the organization with dues.

Further, the “candidate contract” that Obama signed in 1996 was likely the same or similar to one from 1999 that still exists in Internet archives. That contract specifies that the candidate endorsed by the New Party agrees to support the New Party in public and agrees to “join the New Party as a dues-paying member.”

New Party founder Rogers clearly lied in 2008 and last week. The Obama campaign lied in 2008. Obama joined the New Party in 1996, and he almost certainly paid money for the privilege.

Meanwhile, the mainstream media refuse to investigate anything regarding Obama’s past. Just this past week, the Associated Press ran a widely reprinted story denying Obama is a socialist and linking such claims to racism.

So far, none of the mainstream media have picked up the story about Obama’s membership in the New Party.
