Occupy Oakland’s Dangerous “Strike” Follies

Written on Friday, November 4, 2011 by

occupy oakland strike

The next stage of the Aimless Occupation of America is upon us: On Wednesday, rabble-rousers in the San Francisco Bay Area will walk off jobs they don’t have and encourage everyone else around the country to abandon work to protest high unemployment.

The Occupiers are calling their organized day of inaction a “Mass Day of Action.” The Carpenters Local 713, the Service Employees International Union, the United Auto Workers and the Industrial Workers of the World have all endorsed the “general strike.” Longshore workers and their union agitators are rooting for the shutdown of the Port of Oakland. Teachers unions will push students and educators to play hooky. Their posters urge: “No Work. No School. Occupy Everywhere.”

A city suffering from chronic poverty, out-of-control crime, a $76 million budget deficit and a 15 percent unemployment rate (nearly 50 percent for Oakland’s youth) can hardly afford such social justice follies. But a pushover Democratic mayor and an overwhelmed police force have left what’s left of gainfully employed Oakland taxpayers at the mercy of professional freeloaders and anti-capitalism saboteurs.

Instead of unequivocally condemning efforts to paralyze downtown commerce, Oakland city officials have all expressed sympathy for the protesters. For a brief moment, the city council president fretted meekly about the city’s image after a violent clash between Camp Chaos inhabitants and law enforcement officers last week. Nevertheless, city leaders — or rather, city enablers — have informed public employees that they can use vacation or other paid time to ditch their offices and raise their fists in solidarity with the Occupiers.

Instead of targeting local bank branch managers and private-sector entrepreneurs, the protesters should be camping out at government offices and asking where all the tens of millions of dollars in federal Obama stimulus funding went over the past two years — including $40 million from the Department of Health and Human Services, nearly $30 million from the Department of Housing and Urban Development, $26 million from the Department of Justice, $24 million from the Transportation Department, $15 million from the Department of Education, and $5.3 million from the Environmental Protection Agency.

One local analysis found last year that the Oakland Housing Authority squandered nearly $11 million in federal project renovation and clean-up stimulus grants to create a measly 10.7 jobs.

It would all be an amusing object lesson on the impotence of the welfare state, if not for the looming shadow of violence that hangs like stubborn Bay Area fog over the movement. In 2003, a like-minded mob of police-provoking anarchists, anti-war organizers and progressive activists descended on the Port of Oakland to coordinate a “Day of Action.” They hurled concrete, wood and iron bolts at cops while attempting to block military shipments to soldiers in wartime — and then whined about police brutality.

Fast-forward eight years. This week’s “Day of Action” is spearheaded by the likes of Oakland rapper Boots Riley, a militant, self-declared “communist” who penned “5 Million Ways To Kill a CEO” (“Toss a dollar in the river and when he jump in/If you find he can swim, put lead boots on him and do it again”) and “Lazy Muthaf**kas” (“You ain’t never learned to drive or tie your shoe/I got my ear to the street and my eye on you/… You’re a lazy **********! Lazy **********!). After the 9/11 attacks, I reported on Riley’s appalling album cover depicting him partying in front of a doctored image of the World Trade Center being blown up.

Like fellow Occupier, 9/11 conspiracy theorist and Oakland community organizer Van Jones, Riley has long stoked anti-police grievances. In “Pork and Beef,” he rapped: “If you got beef with c-o-ps/Throw a Molotov at the p-i-gs.”

Add to this toxic mix the thugs of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union. The planned march on Oakland’s port is being billed as an expression of “solidarity with longshore workers in their struggle” against grain importer EGT. In Longview, Wash., wildcat union workers cut train brake lines, smashed windows, dumped grain and took hostages earlier this fall to protest the company’s decision to employ not non-union workers, but workers from a competing shop. A federal judge fined the ILWU $250,000 after it defied a court restraining order. Even Obama’s National Labor Relations Board was forced to issue a complaint against the union’s “violent and aggressive” actions.

The unapologetic local union president vowed: “It’s going to get worse before it gets better.” Mark those words.

And immediately upon their walking off their jobs, the companies should terminate them for cause with no severance pay and hire people to replace them. Goodness knows there are a lot of folks who are standing in line to take their jobs.

    • daves

Someone sure is spending a lot of money to demonize these people. Could it be the Wall Street execs?

    • Patriot and an American

No I look at an individual like you daves. I have heard what you have to say all too often to realize that you and many many like you have been deceived. You will wake up one day and realize it.

    • Johnnygard

daves, Are you implying those things aren’t true, or that you just think their actions are OK?

    • AZ Don

Why do you guys even reply to the a–. He seems to be sick to me!

    • Mick

Hey Dave, the SCUM sure has floated to the top in America, hasn’t it? You know (I sorry, I’m sure that you don’t), that if your protesting about our government wasn’t being sponsored by the KKK, the Communist party, the Muslim Brotherhood, the SEIU,the ACLU,the Liberal Left and the BIGGEST SLIMEBALL to grace our Whitehouse…yea, that P.O.S. Obama!, I’d be right there protesting the Greatest government system in the world. It’s not the system, it’s the corrupt humans that have ruined it!

    • slapjack

What a wonderful idea. Excellent thinking for a change.

    • ChillaKilla

After the left captured the three branches of government in ’08 they vowed the would never again give up the power.

The flea-bagger movement, coddled by the kenyan, the H’wood idiots and the press is only the tip of the iceberg. The Tea Party has to stay awake. Has to continue its ordered militancy, has to stay in the face of the communists in the admin and labor!

Anyone out there within the movement, and with enough influence within its ranks, organize random but frequent counter-protests, get out on the streets and show the flea-baggers and their handlers that we are not asleep! Don’t let evil win for lack of activity and effort!

  • Ltjg

Actions like this is exactly what Ibama wants and has been hoping for ever since he told his supporters to kick iff their slippers and put on marching boots. I am sure Obama is beaming from one big ear to the other. Obama must be defeated in 2012 or God Help this Country.

    • Ron

I’m afraid we’ve already passed the tipping point. This isn’t going to end well…

    • rder

Oh my, Oh my, “this isn’t going to end well”. If it means we take back America and American values – it will end very well. “The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.” and we could add the blood of anarchists and socialists to that list. Freedom isn’t free.

    • AZ Don

You are without a doubt right so get prepared with lots of weapons and supplies its coming.

    • joant

Lets turn that beaming face into a frown in 2012. Any President, who allows the occupiers movement to continue, without comment does not deserve the job. Instead of being concerned about the public welfare, caused by the miscreants, he chooses to support them. He should be condemning the destruction caused to property, the crimes that Police are not allowed to investigate,as well as the filth and excrement the occupiers leave behind. Where are the leaders, and why are they ignoring the loss of business in the area, as well as the creation of a health hazard. The inaction by Obama,is inexcusable Where is Obama, the community organizer,in this situation, or is he playing another role??? Where are the main street media stories, about the attacks on the police, They only issue reports when the Police have to react to the violence. The MSM, were so quick to condemn the non-violent Tea Party, who did not cause any trouble or commotion, and not ONE was arrested. I guess who ever is behind the movement has paid well for MSM to put blinders on. One person, suggested the public should boycott the businesses, whose ads are featured on the MSM. Maybe that is the only way to stop this mess from continuing. Hit them in the pocketbook, in the same way the movement has hit business owners, workers and residents in the area where occupiers have taken over.

    • rder

But he has commented – he is with them. and as he said before he was elected – when it comes to it – he will side with the Muslims, also.

    • AZ Don

This is not going to be a cake walk but we can do it. Wait until the time is right. Not now, be patient. In essence wait until you see the whites of their eyes and we win!

    • Daniel

You ask where Obama is, He’s doing the only thing he thinks he’s good at, Community Organizing He’s got this rabble doing exactly what he planned in the beginning. As someone on the Freedom Connector said, someone is going to die in these riots and then the Sh** is really going to hit the fan.

    • http://verizon Ann Rand

joant…. It is the first time in my life that I would be afraid to walk down the street knowing that the president of my country is approving of the actions of thugs. Even Jimmy Carter wouldn’t have done this. What have we become?

  • Adrian Vance

Soros operatives, through ACORN, have been trying to lead this movement and it looks like they are having some success.

Any reason to terrorize/rape/kill/rob/destroy everything in their neighborhoods. Their not hurting the government or business’s they are protesting. Their only hurting their neighbors. They are nothing more than punks and thugs.

    • joant

It is reported that some are being paid to do it, yet not word from the Man, who swore to protect and Defend the USA and its citizens? OOPS– Silly me- I forgot some of his Acorn, Unions and Soros funded groups are aiding the occupiers. Where is Pelosi on the rioting crowds in her district of Oakland CA.? She must really be in deep hiding, due to her fear of the peaceful Tea Party, who frightened her so much, her face actually moved the botox into a frown.

  • Marilyn

I think all those people without jobs who are earnestly looking for work, should have a “protest” of their own, and call it the “Day of REAL Action.” Instead of wearing t-shirts and jeans and holding up signs, they could wear their “interview” clothes and hold up their resumes. Then, the companies can have lines of their own – APPLICATION & INTERVIEW lines for people who actually have good work ethics and who truly WANT to work! The entire country will be better off for it.

    • rder

There will be jobs when the government get’s off the business ass, stops the over regulation and taxation. That’s when there will be jobs – not unless or until. There are lot’s of jobs just waiting for people willing to work. but with the confiscatory policies of the US Government and their business mandates and obsessive taxation – who would hire anyone other than as a very temporary or part time.

  • John Detwiler

This isn’t peacefull protesting this is out and out insurectiion and these insurectionists should be jailed and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. And I have a hunch that if this nonsence continues this is going to happen. Progressive liberalism of the Democrats is distroying our country.

    • joelas

And it all traces back to the leftists sho put Obama in power and suport him now. At least all aid and bailouts should be prohibited to Oakland. Every participaing worker taking part without permission should be fired as disloyal and a poor security risk. Jail as many of the violent ones as possible.

    • am2sweet

I agree, the libs just want to tear down this country and that makes me belive they are nothing more than Nazis working at taking over from the inside out. That was their goal anyway. The Bilderbergs are Nazis or believe in the Nazi way so we don’t need them or their kind here. I think Oakland is full of Nazis from what I’ve seen and of course the unions are full of them too.

    • AZ Don

We’ve got a year until we know and then about 3 months to weather the storm. That 3 months will tell us everything we need to know. We may have to fight so all of you folks that have been talking may very well have to turn that into action. Never give up your weapons. If we do we are dead. Don’t forget that!

    • rder

Anarchy. A state of disorder due to absence or nonrecognition of authority.
Absence of government and absolute freedom of the individual, regarded as a political ideal.

  • Buck O’Fama

Just say no to RINO’s, it’s easy if you try.
Perry talks a good conservative game but in the end he’s all hat and no cattle.

    • Ron

Thanks for making my day! And I agree with you completely, “Buck O’Fama”! LOL!!

    • rder

If that’s Perry, where do you put Romney?

It’s time for a real leader, I’m voting for Newt Gingrich.

    • Chuckleduck

Well newt is in bed with Bilderberg group,
and therefore will still be working against
our liberty and America and cause of freedom.

  • Roswell Evans

All of this commie, socialist rhetoric by the unions is just bringing an illigitimacy to the protest.

  • cheryl jessup

Acorn that by others now have been help OWS croud. They are paying the to carry sign and protest. Much of the money helping him is from unions and soros. A few of the employees talked to a Fox reporter. They went into high gear shredding papers, get rid of anything that had acorn on it. They fired the people who talked to these reporter, intalled cameras and passed around pictures of Fox empoyees. Obama was involved with Acorn as their lawyer. I knew this smelled of Obama, soros and the Libs. The American should raise hell with the House and demand the be defunded. They received a hugh chunk of money from the Stimulus money in 09.Obama wants riots in the streets so he can declare martial law and stop the elections.

    • joant

Every one laughed, at Glenn Beck and wrote him off as a nut. Everything he told us a year ago is happening now. Fox News, made a huge mistake into being pressured to let Beck go. They are still a good station, but their loss was immeasurable to Fox News watchers. The five o’clock show is entertaining, but does not hold the interest commanded by Glenn Beck.

    • rder

11/11/11 Join the party in Washington DC and surround the Capitol and the White House and DEMAND that Obama and Holder be gone.

    • Ltjg

Exactly what I was going to suggest rder. You beat me to it (smile).

  • phil

The continuance of these thugs/anarchist,mobs have been supported by the Oakland political administration from the inept mayor, chief of police, our governor. The city and this mob need to be dealt with harshly and immediately or the spill off will be severe.

  • Marializa

Remember VOTE OBAMA OUT IN 2012 No matter at what cost! That means vote for whomever the Republican Nominee might be! Anyone who can beat him! Remember the SCUDSY MEDIA chose this guy to be president and because they still refuse to see how destructive this evil guy is, they will push to reelect him again-DON’T LET IT HAPPEN AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Idylewylde

WRONG …. the destructive element in the OWS movement is ACORN, and they are NOT unemployed .. they get Federal Money, and they get tax deductable contributions from the yacht club Liberals.

Yacht Club liberals are the Trust Fund babies who screw up corporations by share voting incompetent idiots into CEO positions, and then demand federal bailouts.

The very people who screw up Wallstreet are the very people financing OWS.

Liberalism in Action … change we can believe in.

    • joant

Change, is the operative word. Acorn, was defunded by Congress, however By using a name CHANGE they were funded again. See how Change works in the political world? In the past these things were hidden, but the internet CHANGED it all, and we peons are no longer like mushrooms being fed B##lS##t and kept in the dark.

    • rder

Please, just for me, name one yacht club liberal.

    • Are you Serious

      John Kerry all the Kennedy’s

    • Idylewylde

      Are you serious ..

darn. You beat me to it :)

    • Are you Serious

    • ChillaKilla

Name one yacht club liberal? Geez… how about all those H’wood idiots who lounge on their enormous yachts at the Cannes film festival, among them Geo Clooney, Brad Pitt, Sean Penn, etc.
And how about the zillionaires in finance and high tech who have steadfastly supported the kenyan? Certainly Larry Ellison, owner of Oracle who competes on yacht races; and most surely the CEO’s of Google, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs etc. of whom we might not overtly hear what club they belong to or where they take their yachts to, but it’s for sure they own them. For goodnes-sakes, Bill Gates lives by the water in Seattle… do you think he does not travel on it whenever he wants to?

  • Buck

That is Oakland Mexico you are referring to ,isn’t it ?

    • http://patriotupdate littlepat

No, Buck, it’s Oakland Africa. I thinnk it’s 96% Black now.

  • John Stewart

If these OWS dimwits had anything on the ball, they would be protesting politicians who rake in big bucks with there enabling votes. Maybe they should take a look at Reid, Pelosi, and Bam-Bam.
The union bigwigs are certainly making things worse with their rhetoric.

  • http://sprint/yahoo kittycat78

Its always the same. Obamas need to control us all like a mindless herd of sheep rears its ugly head again. This time no different than the others. In come his henchmen who now are onamas army. He can hardly wait for the first person to be killed. How could the people of this country be so blind as to vote in this madman. He is so driven for power he turns people into animals spewing hate and a lot of innocent people will get hurt or possibly die. And teachers? The guardians of your children? They are disgusting in the information they pass to our young. No wonder God seems to have turned his back and left us to ourselves. Something better start to turn and fast. Obama is a godless man who will stop at nothing to secure the election and finish destroying and breaking everything we hold dear.

  • mesaman

Most of these ill-bred, drug damaged miscreants are no more effective than their ill-bred, brain dead hippy predecessors. They raise hell (ala Watts, CA), pillage, plunder, burn and riot and the rest of us pick up the bill. We, the plodding, working class are their nemesis but they have been fed a line of bullsh** for most of their lives; don’t work hard, invest your labors and become something, whine, bawl, and destroy your way to the top. The “NEO-American dream”.

  • http://patriotupdate littlepat

Obama is going to use this to declare martial law and skip the 2012 election.

  • http://yahoo Joanne

They are covering up a lot of what’s really happening at these protests. The mayor of Oakland should be impeached. When something really bad happens they will put all the blame on the cops!

  • Victor Barney

Yes, and next comes the “Jones/Obama” inspired riots in cities coast to coast, but not probably until after the coming planned marxist mandated economic collapse! No? Watch;because it should occur before the 2012 election!

    • ChillaKilla

Victor, totally in agreement with you. These protests -just one year before elections- ARE NOT COINCIDENTAL! They are completely and unequivocally planned events to disrupt the rule of law, the economy and the morale of the country.
The take-over of America by communist operatives is being effected, step by step.

  • greg connor

We are at a crossroads in this country. Marxism, or the constitution and bill of rights? What will we hand to our children? Are there enough patriots left to resist this takeover? I pray so…count me as one.

  • Retired Marine MSgt in Marana, Az

Just get out to the polls in November 2012 and VOTE zer0bama and all his appointed communist/socialist hacks out of office.

  • Bob

If we had a real president who wasn’t traveling and playing golf all the time he would see that our nation is in turmoil and headed the same path as Greece and several other Europeon nations, but I think he is ok with this because he along with alot of the protesters see this as the road to a communist nation in the end, Wake UP America!

  • Bob

Joant is right Glen Beck did predict this and other thing that may be in the short future, what I don’t understand is why the mayors and governor’s in this cities where the protest are taking place aren’t taking back control – maybe they are the original protesters from the 60’s who also rioted, burned and looted. If I was the governor and the mayor wasn’t taking control of the problem I and the state police and national guard would. When they are done these protesters will make the riots of the 60’s look like something minor.

  • DougM

All this OWS stuff is just so sad, that I feel like any comment is a waste of time, over something so obvious. But it is honestly frightening to hear of the huge numbers that actually sympathize with it. Down now, but still upper 30% or so. Scarily sick electorate. These protesters achieve nothing but public urine and feces, and we pay the clean-up bills. As for their message, lets consider a basic psychological truth. You cannot become what you hate. The obese woman who hates supermodels shall never be a supermodel. The wimpy or obese man who hates the buff studs out there, shall never be a buff stud. And to the point, those who hate the rich, shall never be rich. Wanna laugh? Think for a second. When in history was there ever a time when there wasn’t some group that were in the top 1%, and the rest in the lower 99%. When will it ever be otherwise? As much as they believe and wish otherwise, the number 99% will never be equal to the number 1%. Try getting a job, and after that, a better job.

  • Bob DD

If you don’t like the USA, get the **** out! We’ve had enough of your crap. Go live in O’Dumbo’s liberated Libya, where the Al-Quida flag flies over the courthouse. Yeah, those Islamic boys would like to get a hold of you with your cornsilk brades, and you females, Sharia Law permits “Stoning” women to death! Move today! Take Pelosi, Reid, O’Dumbo, and Georgieboy too! Why wait?

  • Are you Serious

Note to all the idiots occupying our great American cities:

Don’t be pissed off at Corporate America and Wall Street, because you ran up $90K in student loans on a useless degree in French literature, and can’t figure out why you can’t find a job. You’re not the 99%. You’re the 1% that’s too stupid to make it into the 99%. Go back home to your parent’s basement, and look around for a shovel. Maybe you can get a job digging ditches, and become a useful member of society. Until then, get the hell out of the way of the real 99% that are working to get this country back on its feet.

  • Don39

This is ONE of the models for the illegal’s reelection campaign. If America is to dumb and to cowardly to fight for the Constitutional Republic , how far will they shrink at the threat of a little violence. There are not enough patriots left in this nation to shut down Congress and oust the usurper. We are all but done. The only hope left is that those that fought before have enough left to fight again! The oath is sacred and binding to those that have taken it, with the apparent exception of the politicos.

While the media have lavished attention upon the Occupy Wall Street movement (although perhaps not on every aspect of that movement), they have turned a blind eye to a march two national patriotic organizations have scheduled for Veterans Day — 11/11/2011 — calling for the immediate resignation or impeachment of Barack Obama, Joe Biden, and every official in the Obama administration.
The march on Washington is being organized by Veteran Defenders and the Patriots Union, headed by Major General Paul Vallely.
Its flyer states, “Veterans have called for the resignation or impeachment of Barack Hussein Obama, Joseph Biden, and every member of the Obama administration and they are headed to Washington, D.C. — November 11, 2011.”
Americans patriots must stand with military veterans “not just to celebrate our soldiers,” the flyer continues, “but to take our government back from anti-American thugs currently destroying the greatest nation on earth!”
The organizers hope to effect the resignation or impeachment of the president and vice president, Hillary Clinton, Eric Holder, Janet Napolitano, Leon Panetta, Hilda Solis, Timothy Geithner, Arne Duncan, Lisa Jackson, Supreme Court justices Elena Kagan and Sonia Sotomayor, Nancy Pelosi, John Boehner, Mitch McConnell, Harry Reid, every czar, and every other member of the most corrupt administration in memory.
This rally is not merely for veterans. Veteran Defenders’s “Declaration to Restore the Constitutional Republic” states, “We call upon ALL independent truckers, independent contractors, all non-union workers, all independent business owners, agents and investors, all who support free-market capitalism and the right to work, earn and own, to march together with our veterans and former service members on November 11, 2011 – Veterans Day!” (Emphasis in original.)
It further states that “in the event that these individuals refuse to immediately resign in an orderly fashion,” the congressmen who voted against raising the debt ceiling must “immediately begin impeachment proceedings against every member of the Obama administration.”
To reestablish the Constitution as the law of the land, the Declaration demands that “every verifiable member of The Communist Party USA, The Socialist Party USA and The
Democratic Socialists of America be immediately publicly identified and removed from office for overtly acting against freedom, liberty and the Constitutional Republic.” This would sweep such radical leftists as Bernie Sanders and Jan Schakowsky from office. Indeed, in October 2009, the DSA released a list of 70 Congressmen who purportedly hold membership in that socialist organization alone.
It would also like to see special interest House groups, such as the Congressional Black Caucus, disbanded.
Maj. Gen. Vallely (Ret.) is an outspoken patriot who has previously proposed laws reasserting states’ rights to refuse to implement unconstitutional federal legislation.
These hearty men fought bravely to preserve freedom abroad. In this cold winter of our republic’s history, they must fight again to ensure its survival at home.
