The Case I almost didn’t make for Ron Paul

ron paul voters

I never planned on writing this piece.  I told myself that I was much too thin skinned to become a Ron Paul apologist, and so I would quietly root for him in the comfort of my own home – but avoid any appearance of support on the internet.  This was my plan, but you know what they say about the best laid plans of mice and men… What I hope to undertake over a series of two or three articles is an apology of Ron Paul and the reason that Republicans (and all other Americans) should support his pursuit of the Presidency.  I understand that I will receive a lot of negative attention for what I post here, and I can only hope that my opinion offers a clear and rational case for those of us who support Ron Paul.  My fellow Ron Paul fans are often derided as “paulnuts”, “liberals”, “potheads”, and the most offensive (so offensive, I can hardly believe conservatives would use it) “paultards”.  It’s true that some supporters are eccentric, but it is also true that our beliefs are grounded in reason and history.

The Core Economic Argument

I am going to begin from the easy side of the argument, because most Republicans I know are happy to admit that Dr. Paul is right on most economic issues.  Why should Republicans support Ron Paul?  Ron Paul is the most conservative candidate in the field when it comes to economic principles.  He believes that spending should be drastically curtailed, that the federal income tax should be eliminated, and that taxes in general should be dramatically reduced (Ron Paul’s plan calls for the elimination of the IRS).  If elected he plans to cut government spending by $1,000,000,000,000 (that’s One Trillion Dollars, folks) in the first year of his Presidency.  Can you name any other candidate whose preference it would be to completely cut all of your income taxes and allow you to keep your money to use as you see fit?  No way.  Can you name any other candidate who would fight, tooth and nail, to cut spending in Washington, DC even as the lobbyists, unions, and special interests gnashed their teeth and spouted their anti-capitalist rhetoric?  No way.  Every other candidate would cave, and has caved, to the special interest groups in DC.  Ron Paul has been arguing for these kinds of broad, sweeping changes to our tax and spend culture since the 1970s!  If he gets the chance he will veto tax increases, he will veto spending increases, and he will sign tax cuts, and spending cuts.

The other aspect of this core economic argument is Federal regulations and their devastating impact on our economy.  While no one is arguing for a return to the “Gilded Age” of American business when producers could mislead consumers, mistreat employees, and mishandle their product – Ron Paul argues for “common sense” regulation.  Instead of sending police to shut down a young girls sidewalk lemonade stand, the government should spend its finite resources dealing with more pressing matters.  No more nanny state politics, where the federal government attempts to tell consumers that they cannot eat trans-fats, or smoke flavored tobacco, or buy a smoothie or green tea from a little girl.  Ron Paul would make it easier to start your own business by eliminating so many of the wasteful and costly regulations that hamper small business every day.  These economy killing regulations include government interference in the healthcare industry, where according to Norm Coleman, a Romney advisor, “We’re not going to do repeal”.  President Ron Paul would work hard to ensure the repeal of Obamacare, because he believes that whenever government interferes in the free market – prices rise and service declines.

You have no doubt heard the raucous chanting at many a Ron Paul event; it usually goes something like this “End the FED! End the FED!” For many Ron Paul neophytes one of the first questions I get asked is, what do they mean by end the Fed?  In our view of how the economy works the Federal Reserve, which was begun in 1913, because of its machinations and interference is the primary cause of monetary inflation which necessarily leads to price inflation.  This causes several negative outcomes, the main one being that it causes recessions and depressions – in our view the free market is a better tool to limit these negative outcomes.  I would highly recommend Ron Paul’s eminently readable book “End the Fed” for a much more in depth understanding of the negative effects of the Federal Reserve and the positive outcomes of its elimination.  On a similarly obscure note, Paul is sometimes derided as a “gold bug” for wanting a return to the gold standard.  This is not actually the case; Dr. Paul argues that the market should be allowed to decide what our monetary standard will be.

Lastly, in a study undertaken by University of Georgia political scientist Keith Poole, Ron Paul was the most conservative member of Congress from 1937 – 2002 when it came to government involvement in the economy.  Generally, it is not difficult to argue that Ron Paul is the most economically conservative nominee for President – * especially against the current batch of candidates – but what becomes more difficult is explaining his views on foreign policy and domestic personal liberty.  I would argue, and will argue, that his views on these subjects are wholly consistent with both conservatism and traditional Constitutional values.

For more on Ron Paul’s economic plans for the USA check out his campaign website.

* A short side note on the other three Republican candidates to help you measure their conservative credentials.

The other three Republican candidates are moderate-liberal on spending and taxation:

Santorum – I’ll let Anne Coulter explain just a few of the reasons,

Santorum is too liberal on economics:

The Catholic missionary was fantastic on issues like partial-birth abortion, but more like a Catholic bishop in his support for No Child Left Behind, the Medicare drug entitlement program (now costing taxpayers more than $60 billion a year), and a highway bill with a Christmas tree of earmarks, including the famous “bridge to nowhere.”…Santorum cites his father’s admonition to put any extra money in the poor box at church to explain his wanting to use the federal government to help the poor.

By the way Santorum may yell at Romney and Gingrich about the healthcare mandate now, but he used to support it too.

Romney – The eternal flip-flopper authored the healthcare plan that the President based his plan on, and he supported the mandate to purchase healthcare insurance.  He raised taxes as Governor of Massachusetts, though he will tell you he cut taxes.  He supported the stimulus plans put forth by President Bush and President Obama.  He supported the auto industry bailout.

Gingrich – Like Romney, Gingrich supported the individual mandate in the Obama healthcare plan.  He (like Romney), supported TARP.  He supported the Endangered Species Act and the Clean Air Act, both expensive environmental regulation plans.  He called Paul Ryan’s plan for Medicareright-wing social engineering”.

Thank you for speaking out. God bless you!!!!! I hope people will read this and think for themselves and look up DR. Ron Pauls views, he is a great man. Former CIA agree with his foreign policy. Thanks again nice info.

    • Lee

Congressman Paul make many good points concerning the economy. He is either naive or nuts when it comes to foreign policy. If he believes he can negotiate from a position of weakness with Iran, et al, he needs more Geritol. Speaking of which, why is his “advanced” age never brought up. This man will be almost 77 come election day. Should he be elected he will be almost 81. I am no spring chicken, but 77 is way too old to be President. Look at how much it’s aged every past president, with the possible exception of Truman.

    • Sumerian Man

Now where the hell did you come up with that nonsense? Go to Ron Pauls website and read his entire view for yourself. You are so wrong! Quit speading mis-information and nonsense.

    • Sumerian Man

Oh!, and by the way, with age comes wisdom. I,m sure Ron’s well aware of his age and if nominated will pick a running mate accordingly. Afterall, he is the smartest man in the room!

    • Grumpy old man

      About Ron Paul;
He has never taken a government junket.
He does not participate in the lucrative Congressional Pension Program.
He returns a portion of his annual Congressional Office Budget every year.
He has never voted to raise taxes.
He has never voted for an unbalanced budget.
He voted no to the bankster bailout.
He voted no to raising the debt ceiling and warned us against The “Super Congress” part of the legislation that resembles both An “ Enabling Act” and a “Politburo.”
He has never voted to restrict gun ownership.
He has never voted to raise Congressional Pay.
To stand with the American people, President Paul will take a yearly salary of $39,336, equal to the average US worker’s salary. Instead of the current President’s $400,000 salary.
He will cut One Trillion Dollars from the budget in the first year and balance the budget in three years.
He will Return Power to the States as set down in the 9th and 10th Amendments (Bill of Rights) to the Constitution.
He never voted to increase Executive Branch Power.
He will Reinstate The Constitution and Save The Republic
He will END the unconstitutional FED.
He will phase out the unconstitutional IRS beginning immediately
      He will secure the borders
He will limit Big Government in your private affairs
He will stop Illegal immigration and no amnesty
He voted against regulating the Internet

    • Ann Wilson Kingsley

@Lee: We are hoping Ron Paul will be in the presidency long enough to die there at 115(God please bless us with extra terms for Ron Paul). No one can match Ron Paul’s wisdom, and that comes with age. Ask all of his young supporters: They cannot out-think Ron Paul, and they also say they cannot outlast his physical stamina. You know how kids are always saying this or that person is “old”. The kids have to stretch to keep up with their hero. Ron Paul is their Capitalist Freedom Warrior – the government “Transformer” – the “Big” government “Terminator”. The young people have already decided his competence; let them have their hero. Support Ron Paul to restore America.

    • Wondering Woman

Ann, Don’t know how old you are, but I have Ron Paul beat a little bit, but am proud of this man. Doing all I can to see that the youths who have the wisdom to see what many of their elders can’t, get their hero. However, I think of him more as the one with the wisdom, strength of character, and plans to correct the corruption and problems to become their savior who turned this country around, thereby retaining our sovereignty, freedom and liberty for all his descendants, as well as yours and mine.

    • bubblesofjoy

Hey hey hey..Lee! Is there not wisdom that comes with age? If that is your only reason to blast Ron Paul, think again…….someday you may be 77!

    • 57girl

@Lee,If you studied American history and Why we are in the Middle East, I think you would see that Doctor Paul is absolutely correct in his outlook on Foreign Policy. He is not our enemy and is by no means ‘weak’ in his outlook. America is broke and we are killing ourselves financially fighting wars we don’t belong in. Instead of guarding everyone else’s borders, we should be posting our troops on our own borders. And I don’t know why everybody is so worried about Iran. How the hell would they launch a missile to the United States if they had one? Then there is Israel, and they can defend their own damned borders. We need to tend to our own affairs.
      Ron Paul gets my vote.

    • Wondering Woman

We’ll concede that Dr. Ron Paul is old but his brain appears to be thinking clearer than any of the other candidates who are all younger.

Why his brain is even doing math better than yours, if I read your blog right. You said that he will be 77 on election day and if elected he will be 81. Are they going to extend the time between election and inauguration – or has someone instituted a new math I haven’t heard about?

Lee, maybe there isn’t any longevity in your family, but that doesn’t mean that Ron Paul’s
genetics are the same as yours. Matter of fact, I like the your mentioning President H. S. Truman in referring to Dr. Paul Because
Dr. Paul and Harry Truman seem to be cut from the same cloth. Harry Truman my favorite presidents. He was a quiet, cocky little guy who went quietly about his business, while standing up for what he believed in.

While you worry needlessly that Ron Paul may depart before finishing the 4 year term, my faith is that Ron Paul in his intelligence will choose a strong, younger man who loves this country as much as he does to be his Veep, I ask all of you to join me in praying for his safety, because his greatest danger is not his age, but the risk of those who don’t want him in the White House might dare
      try assassinating him.

Especially love the tale of the society dame who was chastizing Bess because Harry used the word manure in one of his speeches. Loved Bess’s reported smiling reply: “But my dear, you have no idea how long it took me to get him to say manure”.

We really haven’t had another president of his character, who stood up for what he believed in, upheld the Constitution as much as he did, or was as honest as he was.

Lee, get over your phobia of wrinkles & age and stop being so shallow. It puts you in the same category as “serial hypocrisy” Newt,if reports of his remark re his second wife is true. He allegedly told someone that
“she is not young enough or pretty enough to be the president’s wife”.

I have no problems with Newt’s age or his wrinkles but I sure do have a big problem with putting someone so immature or lacking in wisdom that he has been aptly tagged “serial hypocrisy” in charge of this country.
Replacing one nwo puppet with another does nothing toward turning this Nation around and get it going back where it belongs, and that isn’t going to happen without a strong background of one who has done his sworn duty of upholding our Constitution.

    • don

if he doesn’t live but 6 months afer being sworn in he will have done more that mitt or newk in 8 years. i’m 68 i know i’m not the smarest on the block but i know a misstake has been made an a serious one at that. an if it is not righted all that we have stood for is gone, newk an mitt are not the ones for this mission.

I’m going to play the devils’ advocate here:

I Understand that Dr. Paul says he will do many things. Like:

He will cut One Trillion Dollars from the budget in the first year and balance the budget in three years.
He will Return Power to the States as set down in the 9th and 10th Amendments (Bill of Rights) to the Constitution.
He will Reinstate The Constitution and Save The Republic
He will END the unconstitutional FED.
He will phase out the unconstitutional IRS beginning immediately.
      He will secure the borders
He will limit Big Government in your private affairs
      He will stop Illegal immigration
NO, he will not, unless he gets total cooperation from the House and Senate. If he could do these things, by himself, he would be a dictator.
I guess that Dr. Paul not only wants the US to become isolationist (He says Non-Interventionist), he wants to keep the Human Race isolated to Earth.
Perhaps the good Doctor doesn’t realize, or he prefers to ignore, that a great number of medical and scientific breakthroughs have resulted from our Space Program.
Perhaps he is ignorant of the fact that the nation who controls and explores Space will eventually be the Earths’ dominant force.
Perhaps he wants us to sit back, with our head in the sand, while our enemies establish their dominance.
Perhaps it’s a really bad idea to cast your vote for someone with such a parochial world view. But, he’s still better than the traitor we have now.
“Regardless who the Republican candidate is, restoring the U.S. economy to the status of a “free” economy will require significant policy changes to reduce the size of government, overhaul the tax system, and transform costly entitlement programs, while maintaining our military superiority. By boosting growth in the private sector, such freedom-enhancing policies are the best hope for bringing down high unemployment rates and reducing public debt to manageable levels.”
In any case, the first step in the road to recovery is to
get to the polls in November and VOTE the communist, Øzebra, and all of his crony “fellow travelers” out of office.”

    • PA Patriot

Here, here…and how’s the US space program currently working out for you, Marine? We’re broke, bankrupt,,,get it?…so broke, we need to retire our domestic space program and pay millions to hitch a ride on the Soviet shuttle (that we designed and they stole) to get to the “international” space station that we designed and paid for…etc. How about cutting the military down 100,000 soldiers – that ought to hit a nerve, jar head. Dr. Paul has it right, return to sound money and Constitutional principles…period, simple. We’ve got to bite the bullet for a while and get our own house in order. If we pull the $ plug on the 100’s of foreign nations we support with our tax dollars and money we borrow from China – things will realign. Put the privately owned FED RESERVE out of business and take control of our own money (like JFKennedy and Abe Lincoln tried to do). It’s a ballsy plan – and it could work. The last thing we need is another establishment shrill like Newt or Romney; they are plants – they’ll fall right in step with the grand design. Ron Paul is the only answer for the people to take back the country. He’s not only the only answer – but also very possibly the last opportunity before the collapse of the Republic as it was meant to be. If you voted for Obama last time – you’re a bonified idiot. If you voted for McCain, you proved that you obtain your intelligence from the establishment ontrolled media propaganda machine (AP, UPI, Turner, Soros, NPR, CFR, etc)- and they played you like a fiddle. We need a revolution of IDEAS…now! It is clear that Ron Paul is “one of these things that’s not like the other”. I will vote for liberty and Ron Paul no matter what. I am not persuaded away from voting my conscience just to vote against Barry Soerto by giving my vote to another politician who will carry the same torch towards the new world order and the demise of the last bastion of freedom, the United States (one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Oohrah, airborne.

    • smart1

you know lee , Newt said the same thing about Ronald Reagan when Reagan wanted to talk to gorbachev. Just because you hear something a million times fom many pundents does not make it correct!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Patriot Diva

Ron Paul bicycles 15 miles a day. I don’t care how old he is. He’d probably have a lot of good people in place around him anyway.

    • Hank is back

Probably not during the campaign, though. But campaigns can be much more rigorous than a little old bike ride!

    • Wondering Woman

However both of you forgot to mention that Dr. Ron Paul’s foreign policy and antiwar stance is within our Creator’s guidelines.

As one other blogger put it – somehow a lot of us failed to notice when “we the people”
left our Creator’s plan and became offensive

Hey! I thought it was just a joke going around when I first heard the revised version of “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”. Who could have known that making a joke of it would transform it permanently into “Do others before they have a chance to do you” for future generations?

    • Retired Marine MSgt in Marana, Az

      Wondering Woman,

Here are the Creator’s guidelines for War:

      Deuteronomy 20

1When thou goest out to battle against thine enemies, and seest horses, and chariots, and a people more than thou, be not afraid of them: for the LORD thy God is with thee, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.

2And it shall be, when ye are come nigh unto the battle, that the priest shall approach and speak unto the people,

      3And shall say unto them, Hear, O Israel, ye approach this day unto battle against your enemies: let not your hearts faint, fear not, and do not tremble, neither be ye terrified because of them;

4For the LORD your God is he that goeth with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you.

5And the officers shall speak unto the people, saying, What man is there that hath built a new house, and hath not dedicated it? let him go and return to his house, lest he die in the battle, and another man dedicate it.

6And what man is he that hath planted a vineyard, and hath not yet eaten of it? let him also go and return unto his house, lest he die in the battle, and another man eat of it.

7And what man is there that hath betrothed a wife, and hath not taken her? let him go and return unto his house, lest he die in the battle, and another man take her.

8And the officers shall speak further unto the people, and they shall say, What man is there that is fearful and fainthearted? let him go and return unto his house, lest his brethren’s heart faint as well as his heart.

9And it shall be, when the officers have made an end of speaking unto the people that they shall make captains of the armies to lead the people.

10When thou comest nigh unto a city to fight against it, then proclaim peace unto it.

11And it shall be, if it make thee answer of peace, and open unto thee, then it shall be, that all the people that is found therein shall be tributaries unto thee, and they shall serve thee.

12And if it will make no peace with thee, but will make war against thee, then thou shalt besiege it:

13And when the LORD thy God hath delivered it into thine hands, thou shalt smite every male thereof with the edge of the sword:

14But the women, and the little ones, and the cattle, and all that is in the city, even all the spoil thereof, shalt thou take unto thyself; and thou shalt eat the spoil of thine enemies, which the LORD thy God hath given thee.

15Thus shalt thou do unto all the cities which are very far off from thee, which are not of the cities of these nations.

16But of the cities of these people, which the LORD thy God doth give thee for an inheritance, thou shalt save alive nothing that breatheth:

17But thou shalt utterly destroy them; namely, the Hittites, and the Amorites, the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites; as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee:

18That they teach you not to do after all their abominations, which they have done unto their gods; so should ye sin against the LORD your God.

19When thou shalt besiege a city a long time, in making war against it to take it, thou shalt not destroy the trees thereof by forcing an axe against them: for thou mayest eat of them, and thou shalt not cut them down (for the tree of the field is man’s life) to employ them in the siege:

20Only the trees which thou knowest that they be not trees for meat, thou shalt destroy and cut them down; and thou shalt build bulwarks against the city that maketh war with thee, until it be subdued.

And yet another person who not researched Ron Paul’s foreign policy.

    • Lory

Any and all answers about running this Republic can be found in the writings of our founders. As for Ron Paul’s foreign policy, I will let John Quincy Adams speak: America well knows that by once enlisting under other banners than her own, were they even the banners of foreign independence, she would involve herself beyond the power of extraction in all wars of interest and intrigue, of individual avarice, envy, ambition which assume the colors and usurp the standard of freedom. The fundamental maxisms of her policy would intensively change from liberty to force. Whe would no longer be the ruler of her own spirit. John Quincy Adams 1821

It’s so weird, cause when you’re eyes are opened to the Ron Paul message, then you can’t go back to the same old, same old. My conscience won’t let me. No more war, no more blood on America’s hands. We can’t keep doing this to ourselves.

    • Wondering Woman

      Right on Susie,

All it takes to get Dr. Paul’s message is to open ones eyes and ears and really listen to what you are seeing and hearing.

Unfortunately too many are content to sit and listen to what others are saying about them instead of really gathering information to make an intelligent decision on.

This courageous one plans to vote for Ron Paul no matter what ticket he runs on, and to write him in if his name is not already on the ballot. He is both qualified and eligible and the most electable candidate.

Remember, fellow “Paulnuts” UNITED WE STAND
and we not only elect Dr. Ron Paul, but we also send the two major parties, both of which are thoroughly infiltrated with new world order puppets, the message that the game is over – we see through them and we are tired of the hypocrisy and demand “real” change instead of more lies and business as usual.

    • Ladyliberty

Wondering Woman, I’m with you girl friend!!! We have to de-flea the congresses and get all the senior leaders like John BoneHead, Pelosi, Reid, McConnell out.

After Ron Paul wins this year; I’m hoping they keep Campaign for Liberty going forever with us all supporting ever new president that comes down the line…but as a Libertarian/Independent. I just can’t see myself supporting the rino republican party anymore. Both parties are the same and cannot be trusted. We have to clean house and senate.

  • Mike

Cannot understand why people are so unkind to this man.

There will be NO country to fight for if we continue to spend in the manner that we have been spending, that makes the foreign policy a moot point. He is the ONLY candidate that in each of the debates tells us that we are heading for an economic catastrophe, the loss of the reserve currency is HUGE, then nothing else matters.

You are correct, he has been warning us of these things, the other candidates watch him in awe if you ask me, they do not understand the trouble that is FAST approaching, why do you want them to lead you when they have no clue?

Because he is unwilling to start a new war at a cost of trillions with a county that supplies 25% of the energy needs to China, also supplies a huge portion of the EU (the war would finalize the collapse of the union) and not to mention Russia people want to ignore the ONLY defender of the Constitution on that stage! Huh? LISTEN- forget the wars, it matters little!

Iran is working very hard at getting partners to trade in some currency than the dollar, that will spell the end for us the USA,they do not need a BOMB! If we lose reserve status the FED can no longer use Quantitative Easing to lessen the economic problems that we face, our goose is cooked and it is the WARS that has us broke!

Without the reserve status our dollar will drop, costs of everything will rise and our way of life is over. Learn this, it matters more than Dr. Paul’s foreign policy – trust me!

Ron Paul is right, on so many counts; 25 years as being “Doctor No” for never voting against the Constitution.

If he loses we are in a “post Constitution” society, your choice folks, WAKE UP!!!!!!!!!

If you screw this up I predict that in less than 2 years you will wake up, into a nightmare.

Thank you for those sacrifices you and other veterans have made, and I apologize to all of you for letting you down by letting this country get into such a mess that now our usurper president is tagging all returning veterans as possible or probable terrorists.

Somehow things look bleaker now than the day that a Viet Nam vet remarked to me: “Viet Nam
vets are living on the streets and we have a draft dodger (Bill Clinton) living in the White House”. The truth of his remark stung then, and it still does today.

Let’s honor our veterans by watching closely who we vote for and why we vote for them.
Please, folks, no more “chicken hawks” as Jesse Ventura tags them.

How about his 1981 vote AGAINST the resolution condmening Israel for the attack it made on Iraq’s nuclear facility?

Ron Paul was the stood alone. The House and Senate voted to condemn Israel for actions it took to defend itself. Even Ronald Reagan chided the Israelis.

This of course, was back when iraq was our ally.

Ron paul wants to end foreign aid to israel. It amounts to less than one percent of their economy. Endning these bribes would send a message to Israel that they no longer need to get our approval to act. That they no longer need to fear our reprimand if they do act.

Ending foreign aid to Israel actually helps them more than it hurts. Just like ending welfare here at home would incentivize many here to go out an dget a job.

I was going to say that Ron Paul was the one that stood up for Israel, but decided to type something else and forgot to delete the first part.

    • 2SHEA

Dr Paul is NOT against Israel…he’s against giving them “foreign aid”! Most people don’t realize that we give Israel $3 Billion a year … but give the ENEMIES of Israel $15 Billion! Benjamin Netanyahu has stated “We are capable of defending ourselves, we don’t need your help!” Besides, Israel has over 400 nuclear warheads. Enough to OBLITERATE anyone who is foolish enough to attack them.

    • leefromok

Big business routinely gives money to both sides of an election to buy influence, but they give the most to the side they really want to win.
This influence translates through the politicians to influencing/controlling nations.

    • Patriot Diva

Ron Paul, being a christian man does support Israel. He does not want to give out foreign aid to other nations, because we are broke. He believes in a strong well funded military ready at a moment’s notice. Knowing that Israel is well armed, he’d prefer to let Israel defend herself as she sees fit. Most American presidents are always telling Israel what to do. If Israel were to ask for our help, he would. He just does not want to insert ourselves into Israel’s business. Hope that explains things. The media almost never gets it right.

    • TooToo

“Ron Paul being a Christian Man” – funny, he said nothing about his “faith” in the debate last evening – and I was looking for it. It was obvious where the other three candidates stood. We ignored the obvious when bho was running and we got “hoodwinked.” Let’s not be ignorant again . . .

    • LL

From Ron Paul’s official campaign website: My faith is a deeply private issue to me, and I don’t speak on it in great detail during my speeches because I want to avoid any appearance of exploiting it for political gain. Let me be very clear here: I have accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Savior, and I endeavor every day to follow Him in all I do and in every position I advocate.

    • Hank is back

      Hey toot.

You obviously did not watch the debate the other night. He did talk about his faith. The difference between him and the other candidates is that he doesn’t use it to bludgeon and blackmail people.

  • RLPartridge

Dr. Paul is the only candidate, of either party, who recognizes the Constitution. Lincoln abused both the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence, caused the death of over 500,000 Americans, and created more hate than any other president.
The best president in modern times was Calvin Cooledge who was proud of the fact that he did nothing, and his term was known as “The Roaring 20s,” (a model for other chief executives).

What Every Original-Intent Conservative Needs to Know About Liberal-tarian Ron Paul:
    – Liber-tarian, NOT Conservative. Liber-tarians, like Liber-als are two sides of the same ugly coin of Libertinism (Collectivism & Anarchy).
    – Liberal on Social issues & National Security, pseudo-conservative on Fiscal policy makes them 2/3 Liberal.
    – Neo-isolationist foreign policy along the lines of genocide enabler Neville Chamberlain and Vichy France (Euro-pacifist/appeasement).
    – Revisionist history including an extremist and non-original-intent view of the 10th Amendment that would return us to the states rights chaos of the Articles of Confederation that pre-dated our Constitution.
    – Via his radical states rights ideology Paul’s POLICY is: Pro-Choice on abortion/genocide, gay marriage, polygamy, bestiality, pedophilia, prostitution, illicit drugs, freedom of religion, and civil rights.
    – Now a documented unrepentant racist and anti-Semite in videos from the ’90s over his newsletters on which he made millions. Paul is a magnet for racial supremacist groups and neo-Confederates like David Duke & StormFront. Paul’s pic with the leader of SF is still up on their website.
    – Supports 9-11 Trutherism, Blame America Firsterism, calls Americans terrorists, occupiers, and imperialists. Voted to force homosexuality upon our combat troops against their will, and that of their commanders, chaplains, veteran’s groups, and people of faith. Paul also joined with domestic terrorist and Obama mentor Bill Ayres, Code Pink, and Michael Moore in calling the WikiLeaks traitor Manning a “patriot” and “hero”. Paul supports Jihadist terrorists like Hamas and Iran over the only democracy and ally in the Middle East, Israel.
Ron Paul is an oath breaker for giving aid and comfort to our enemies during a time of war, and supporting traitors. We The People hope to see Paul and his liberal cousin Obama impeached in 2012 and indicted for Treason…

I think the majority of Republicans who are of at least 50 years old can discern the trend of our once conservative party moving to the left and adopting many of the social nuances of the progressive party now called ‘democrats’.

This is the core of the why many went towards and into the ‘Tea Party’ as a conservative anchor that once was held by the Republicans. It is very obvious to many of us who hold the Constitution and the Bill of Rights as a fixed marker or as a reference for our governments actions over the years and the continued slip & sliding of our judiciary to enable the congress and senate to get away with social appeasements dejour for political and corporatist’s gains.

Many of the Conservative blogs, websites, pundits and journalists are also as biased in many ways as is their counter parts in the progressive trough. Some know it, some don’t and some don’t care as long as the results justify the mean. ( Sounds familiar doesn’t it?).

Ron Paul like all people is not perfect, however if it’s the Constitution that needs protecting in this time of our country’s growth, and I strongly feel it is. Then Ron Paul is the person to set a new defined marker into the ground that will represent ‘We the People’ and our desire to return this nation back to the best reference of individual freedom and liberties this world once revered.

Recently, Rush was calling Ron Paul a ‘conservative killer’ ? I’ll tell you Rush, Bush is a conservative killer, McCain is a conservative killer, Schwarzenegger is a conservative killer, … Our Republican party has been killing off itself fo many years only to replace itself with more ‘Conservative Killers’.

Don’t blame Ron Paul, he has been steadfast for all of his career in the once Conservative party called Republicans.
I’m sorry gentlemen … Mitt is not a true conservative. Sure, he has some conservative tendencies.. however, I am so tired of voting in this two party circus where the status quo is maintained where we have corporatists by proxy in our government fielding for the banks, the Fed, Wall Street and the military industrial complex.

Yes Obama is the worst thing that has ever sat as POTUS, but Bush and others put him there by their poor policies in fiduciary, social and international behavior that were certainly NOT conservative.

Ron Paul will be the only vote I can live with anymore. Keep this up and you will have a third party mess as well as a civil revolution that will be much more bigger than the short lived ‘Tea Party’ that was usurped and damaged by again…The Republicans.

I spent some time in the 2008 campaign in the phone bank for Dr. Paul, and also planted a few signs in front yards of people who agreed to have them. During this time I met many Paul supporters. I was also present at several gatherings, rallys, and met Rep. Paul a couple of times. He talked to me like a fellow human.

There might be Paultards out there, but they are the ones you read about. The vast majority of Paul supporters are normal people who want the government out of their personal lives. We are grownups and we want to make these decisions ourselves (and for our kids, as appropriate). I agree with Ron Paul’s position on mostly eliminating drug laws. Does that make me a druggie, or a Paultard? Unlikely; I don’t use drugs or alcohol. I’m a gun owner, a home owner, I have no police record, and I paid all my taxes last year. There are a lot of people like me who are Ron Paul supporters. Why do you think that is?

I don’t really know what to do…The #1 priority is to get the communist out of the White House in November; if not, America is finished. If Obama is retired then putting our country back together will be nearly impossible because maybe 90% of the population (thank you, government schools) Haven’t the slightest idea what American ideals are and will resist the spineless and perverted career politicians who will want to please the dependent class. Ron Paul will be 81 at the end of his first term. Please do not forget priority #1.

  • nvrpc

Ron Paul isn’t even being heard by anyone that counts. <10% even like him.

    • Hank is back

Nationwide polling says otherwise. And even many of those that don’t favor him still ‘like’ him and would vote for him if he was the nominee.

    • LCLC

      Hey NVRPC:
You should give this article a read…
Ron Paul (and Mitt) are the only two candidates currently polling right with the President… and Ron Paul destroys every other candidate (Republican and Democrat) with Independents!

    • 57girl

@nvrpc . . . or so the Media would have you believe. Once again, the GOP has thrust their puppet picks forward and will try to ignore Dr. Paul or claim he has no chance. Don’t believe it. Once people actually hear and understand Dr. Paul’s message, they begin to realize that he may be this Nation’s last hope at saving our Sovereignty. I am not even considering voting for any of the other ‘popular’ Candidates. They all work for the same people EXCEPT Dr. Paul and he can’t be bought.

    • Patriot Diva

That’s because 90% of the electorate don’t do any research on their candidates. The only thing that matters is how the candidates acted(voted)in the past. When you look at actions, the best candidate is a clear choice.

Yep – voted in one of those on line polls again last night and got reminded all over again how rotten the RNC and MSM is treating Ron Paul.

Of course the poll started off with giving you a choice of Newt and Romney to vote for. No other choices. They did not give a neither of the above choice on this one. Sorry! Passed!

But just below they gave you a choice of Newt, Romney and all the others who have dropped out – in this one Ron Paul was the winner with 38% – Believe Bachman was 2nd
with l8%. Hopefully one of these polls will start asking if we would write in Ron Paul’s
name if it isn’t on the ballot! That is my plan.

We can’t stop the RNC, DNC and MSM from lying
but we can stop falling for those lies and playing their games.

I invite everyone to watch this video that hasn’t already, then tell me how you can NOT vote for Ron Paul. While the rest of the crowd slings mud at each other, Dr. Paul is trying to guide us back to our Sovereign roots. How stupid are we,not to put this man into office?

  • Pat

I don’t think anyone would argue that Ron Paul is right on some of his views about the economy. That said, it is simply not accurate to blame the Fed for inflation. There have been many, many nations that have experienced inflation, some much more severely than the US, and none of them had a Fed. The Fed has kept interest rates down, which has contributed to keeping the rate of inflation down. Inflation is primarily a result of high taxes, in my opinion, because the cost of taxes has to be passed on to the consumer. If it isn’t, the company will go out of business. This multiplies, and ultimately causes inflation. Inflation is at least partly a result of government plunder.

However, that said, in no way is Paul a conservative on social issues. Allowing a person to eat trans fat or whatever is one thing. Allowing him to sell drugs that make a person self-destruct is quite another. This is why having a list of which drugs are against the law is really important, because you have to draw a line between what is harmful and what could be harmful under the wrong circumstances. As long as we are talking about what is harmful, consider pharmaceutical drugs that are being prescribed for people. These are very harmful as a general rule, but I suspect Paul would not want them regulated. This is in spite of the fact that patients are not informed, and the result is that they are being defrauded in their decision making about whether to accept the medical advice or not. If you legalize something, it increases the number of people doing it, often dramatically. We saw that with abortion. The more people you have self-destructing, the more problems our nation will have. We have “compassionate” people who will plunder the productive to take care of people who self-destruct. As long as they are a political majority, legalizing these dangerous things means that you will pay MORE in taxes than you do now, to take care of those people. The alternative is to let those people die in the streets. Most voters won’t accept that.

Paul is also not a conservative on war and national defense. He is left of just about everyone on that question. He thinks Islam is benign. That is one of the most SERIOUS delusions I have seen in a long time. Paul didn’t study our history very well. Our Founders wanted to do the very thing he advocates. It didn’t work. Ultimately, they chased their terrorists back to their own soil and defeated them there, just like we have been trying to do. Leftists with influence have undermined our self defense at every turn. Paul would entrench their folly.

I’m not thrilled about any of the candidates. That said, there are two candidates I will never vote for, not even in a general election. They are Paul and Romney. The other two candidates will probably do a passable job. I think Gingrich has the smarts to beat Obama in debate, so he is most likely to win. I also think that both Gingrich and Santorum have learned from their mistakes, and I would vote for either of them. Two candidates are not solid on abortion: Paul and Romney. Paul’s argument is the same one used to justify slavery in southern states. I don’t think Romney is sincere. Abortion is my primary issue. Without the right to life, all other rights are meaningless.

I won’t throw brickbats at you. But I hope you will consider what I said. Paul would be a disaster. Being right on economic issues isn’t enough.

    • Wondering Woman

      Pat says,

Do us all a favor and get some more smarts on the federal reserve before election day. You will find it has a connection to the new world order, otherwise known as the one world global government.

Believe Ron Paul is much more hep on the economy and its causes than you are. Info
on both are all over the internet, but you sound like you need a crash course which can be found by going to Project Camelot and typing “Benjamin Fulford” into their search window.

Another crash course on new world order alone can be found by looking up AGENDA 21.

    • Pat

Responding to a bunch of you: I never said that there aren’t lots of central banks. There are. I said they are not the only culprits causing inflation. Lots of things cause inflation. As for Iran, don’t kid yourself. They INTEND to use nukes to wipe out Israel, and then they’re coming after us. ONE Israeli official doesn’t make the contrary true. Ron Paul’s views on the economy are pretty much what I think. I just don’t think he knows what to do about it. I think his proposals would be the final blow to the world economy.

You people all jump to too many conclusions. You don’t know what I know and what I don’t know. I am familiar with Austrian economic theory and largely agree with it. I don’t watch TV.

The arrogance of Ron Paul groupies bothers me a lot. This is the kind of stuff cults are made of.

    • 57girl

You need to go to YouTube and watch “The Money Masters” and/or “The Creature from Jekyll Island”. Everyone should watch both these films, especially if they think that the Federal Reserve is not the root of our financial collapse. The only people that defend the Fed either don’t understand how it operates, they work for the Fed, or they are obtaining other personal gain by condoning their activities. The Federal Reserve is an illegal, evil institution and should be abolished. If we followed our own Constitution, the Federal Reserve would not exist at all. Check it out.

    • Wondering Woman

      Pat Says,

You may disagree with Ron Paul on legalizing drugs – but can you rebut his reasoning on this one? As he says, those who want to do drugs are already doing them, despite their being illegal. He also said legalizing would destroy the drug market and stop the money wasted on the drug wars. I’ll only add to what he said and point out that the drug users would probably get a better quality product at a lesser price, even if the government levied a tax on it after legalizing it just as they did with alcohol.

Now Pat, a couple of questions. Why in the hell aren’t you raising hell about all the damage from the legal drugs the pharmaceutical companies and orthodox medicine have been throwing at us? Surely you haven’t slept through thalidomide, Vioxx,
not only the damage from many other drugs ranging from permanent blindness to death, the diabetes drugs that increase cardiovascular disease and deaths from them, or are you even aware that orthodox medicine is still treating diabetes type 2 with oral hypoglycemics to make their pancreas kick out more insulin, after they slowly and reluctantly admitted that the initial phase of Metabolic Syndrome X (or as orthodox medicine renamed it Insulin Resistance) is
      excessive insulin production?

Why aren’t you raising hell about all the toxins in our processed foods and our public water supply? Are you even aware that more than 20 years ago a Neurology Journal printed an article that said the 1 part per million dosage of sodium fluoride in our drinking water is the same dosage that causes Alzheimer’s disease? You will find it very hard to find any concrete evidence that sodium fluoride really prevents cavities, but
that hasn’t stopped anyone from putting it in our drinking water or in all toothpastes despite the face that there has been numerous deaths from toddlers using the fluoridated toothpaste.

There is so much information out there that no one can know it all. I certainly don’t, but I have learned to sift lots of the stuff I hear or read thanks to learning some of the above for myself. That my friend, is why I trust Dr. Ron Paul’s word on our economy and the federal reserve more than I do yours. I have looked at some of the evidence from different areas that tell me Dr. Ron Paul has done his research on both.

    • LocalYokel

Could it possibly be that some here are victims of MSM single source agenda biased information filtered by fact omission and talking head whitewash of the half truth they provide? Can the effect of airbrushed beauties bearing fallacious innuendos amid pretense of providing “fair and balanced” content ever be corrected with common sense? No absolute truth can ever be expected from sources that place profit from their advertising base above patriotism until boycott of their advertised products and services has properly adjusted their bottom line now being greatly enhanced with candidate PAC money.
Take note of the misinformed examples yet calling for more media directed stage acting debate performance to justify their egotistical peer pressure conclusions complete with exhibition of their true love of TV drama with canned response effect. If any of them really like what they got from such eloquent speech without explicit content definition in 2008 while the destruction in progress continues, then they must require more of the same to magnify their resolution of the brazen neurosis spread from select elect to the electorate masses.

    • Pat

Rebutting Paul: Legalizing self-destructive behavior causes the number of people who do it to increase greatly. Look at what happened when abortion was legalized. Suddenly, 15 TIMES as many abortions were being done. No, it would not destroy the drug market. You yourself mentioned pharmaceuticals. The fact they’re legal didn’t stop them from doing tremendous harm, now did it? Some people will refrain from doing something that is illegal, and spare a whole bunch of people a lot of grief. Make it legal, and they won’t refrain. And as for “better quality at a lesser price”, did you know that some illegal drugs are being sold for $2 a hit? We also know that the Mafia is involved in the abortion industry. Remember, abortion is legal. Not only that, but street drugs impair a person’s ability to drive, and if we legalized them, there’d be a lot more of that, in spite of the fact that DUI is illegal. And I have to share the roads with people like that. And I’d end up breathing marijuana smoke every time I went to enter a building, and marijuana gives me a splitting headache.

You asked, “Why in the hell aren’t you raising hell about all the damage…” etc. Guess what! I have made PLENTY of noise about this. You just don’t know about it. Don’t jump to conclusions. I hounded my sister for over a year to stop taking toxic pharmaceuticals. She has stopped ONE. I’m still on her case. If we outlawed these toxic pharmaceuticals, she would be a lot healthier. I complain about GMO’s every chance I get. I write emails to companies and tell them why I’m not buying their food. I raise a stink about fluoridation. We drink spring water to avoid it.

And precisely BECAUSE legalizing street drugs will make things worse, I don’t trust Ron Paul.

    • LCLC

Pat – I am sorry to tell you this but you are just plain wrong. Please here me out… almost every nation on the planet has a government run central bank. The only one I can think that doesn’t is Switzerland.
They may not call it the Federal Reserve but they do the same thing the Fed does… in fact the EU now has the IMF and the Eurozone which is playing havoc with their economy’s.
I am sorry to tell you but you are very misinformed about this issue. Every country (save the Swiss) has a government run central bank.

    • cmvbih

Pat, you need to do a lot of research as your post highlighted just how much you don’t know.
Currently, only 5 countries (Sudan, Cuba, Iran, No Korea) that don’t have a central bank, that is what the Fed is – a central bank, and the 5th country was Libya. Why do you think they attacked Libya? For oil? Oh, no. It was so the globalists could get their central bank in there and own that country’s economy. Why do you think there’s so much warmongering concerning Iran? Has nothing to do with nukes, but letting the globalist get their central bank in there. Even Ehud Barak, the head of the Israeli Minister for Defense says Iran is NOT making nukes and doesn’t think they will. Or are you going to say that the Israelis don’t know nothing about what Iran is doing?
And before 9/11, Afghanistan and Iraq didn’t have central banks, either, ergo an unwarranted war in Iraq just so the Rothchilds could get into there, too.
Sorry to have to inform you LCLC, but the Swiss do have a central bank.

As for drugs, Ron Paul doesn’t want to ‘legalize’ them as you say, he wants to get the fed gov out of it and end the federal govt’s War on Drugs because on average it costs taxpayers about $2billion a year to run. The War on Drugs also gave us Fast and Furious – how well did that work out?
Drug legislation is an issue for the states to decide, not an issue enumerated in the Constitution for the fed gov to handle.
Please, Pat, stop reading headlines and listening to talking points. Do your own research and be informed. The usurpers in the government are actually counting on people like you to remain ignorant of what is really happening. Don’t fall for their con game. Be a true American Patriot and know our founding documents and principles inside and out, learn about the Austrian school of economics, and research ‘central banks’ so you know how terrible they really are and how they are all owned by basically one family. Learn how Andrew Jackson crushed the central bankers and why he did.

“I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around [the banks] will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs.”
      Thomas Jefferson

    • C.Davis

Pat, I appreciate your candor about for whom you will vote, but I would like to make a suggestion.
Unless you are living below the poverty level,Get your credit card out, or your checkbook out and write a $20 check to the candidate(s) you think you can get behind, or go to their website and donate $20.
It won’t break the bank, You will feel the satisfaction of knowing that you are the kind of person who puts his money where his mouth is, and it will tell you something very important about yourself and the power that you have.
But before you click on that donate button, ask yourself if you’re expecting some kind of return on that investment. Because you can bet those mega-corporations ask themselves exactly the same thing.
Now, the mega corporations have some candidates that they know they can depend on to provide that return.
In fact, they consider their contributions to them to be chicken feed compared to the return that they demand from them.
I leave it up to you to discover which candidates are willing to sell the favors of their offices to these gajillionaire financiers, but I’ll give you a hint… they ALL have more than 4 letters in their last name.
Now, one last thing you should ask yourself before you lick that stamp or whatever. What level of representation will that $20 bill get you, should its recipient win the presidency?
Thank you, have a great day.

    • Patriot Diva

And another person who didn’t do their research.

  • DE Navarro

I’m totally with you and I was sitting silently by too until recently. After deep investigation, I find that his foreign policies are misconstrued and that they are not as bad as his opponents want to make them appear. Ron Paul is ALL for WINNING wars, not for Nation Building. He wants a strong military ready to defend our nation and standing by if really needed to defend our shores. If there is a valid reason to go to war, Congress shall vote to declare war and then Ron Paul is devoted to winning the war by defeating the enemy to the point they surrender and sue for peace on our terms. I checked out the facts myself and the government reports that we spend more on defense than ALL OTHER NATIONS on this planet combined. Really? If our allies want our protection, rather than them expecting us to pay them to be in their countries, we should say, “If you want us here, pay us. Otherwise we are going home.”

Ron Paul would be the best choice to stop us from heading over this brink of destruction. All other choices may slow us down, but will not change direction.

    • Patriot Diva

God bless you for actually taking the time to research! So many people CLAIM they know Ron Paul’s platform, but heven’t done a bit of research for themselves. They rely on what others tell them. You are a rare gem.

Ron Paul did great at the last Florida debates. When challenged about age, he challenged the other candidates to a 25 mile bike race. I concur. I’m just half a year younger than Dr. Paul and I run, swim, bike, and some strength work including 50 pushups and 15 pull-ups each week. The internet suggests I’ll live to 104. I also have 5 kids like Ron Paul, but mostly, Ron walks his talk. None of the others come close.

With the exception of Barry Goldwater and Harry Browne, Ron Paul is the only candidate in my 82-year-old memory who says what he means and means what he says.

When we elected Obama we got 4 more years of Bush (on steroids); if we elect anyone but Ron Paul we will get 4 more years of Obama (on tranquilizers). Paul’s foreign policy is not that intimidating if one reads his book, “A Foreign Policy of Freedom” (2007). We fear what we do not understand. Get the book!

Paul’s “foreign policy” – perhaps the only thing holding him back – is blown all out of proportion by Neo-Cons, who are not much more than lobbyist for the “military industrial” complex.

I would not fear for the defense of our country with Paul in the WH anymore than I would fear for global warming or other natural disaster if we abolished the EPA. The hysteria against Paul’s “foreign policy” is the right wing equivalent of left wing hysteria over global warming.

The same Neo-Cons were obviously active and media abetted in the Republican party’s candidate selection in 1964. Campaign similarities to the present campaign to marginalize Ron Paul are as evident as their attack on Goldwater back then. Goldwater was portrayed as the war hawk opposed to LBJ. Guess who got us into conflict with Korea based on failed radar ghost images? But it served well for field testing new military technology and profiteering on war materials providing profit to Goldwater’s party opponent at the expense of American lives and media character assassination of returning vets. LBJ may go down on record as the last Democrat to ever admit making a mistake by his refusal to seek a second term.
