If there is a statement which summarizes the condition of our country in these times of “progressive” ideals; it is that we have a disease of the nervous system which is gradually getting worse. In that context, I believe the word progressive is quite accurate.
In the alternate reality of socialism, “progressive” is a code word for impunity in a society that doesn’t hold a person accountable for the consequences of their actions. Fair is code for “the government will decide” how much money you can have. And equality actually means, those who rebel against conservative values enjoy invented “rights” and to h*ll with everyone who disagrees.
In truth, “progressive” ideals only cause a society to “regress” back to barbaric behavior where the only things that matter are the selfish and self-centered desires that more traditional values help to quell.
In short, one has to wonder why it isn’t painfully obvious that hundreds of years of unsuccessful “revolutions” and botched attempts to “transform” society are a revolving door of epic failure. To progress in a forward direction seems a simple concept, yet its successful execution seems to elude even the most ardent believers.
For all the learning that is supposed to be taking place in our institutions of higher education it seems inexcusable that so little wisdom is available to acknowledge the fallacies of collectivism and socialism staring them right in the face.
“Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery.”― Winston Churchill3
