Let’s call it what it is, an act of rebellion, a bit of surrender, certainly treachery, but most importantly, a move toward permanently seceding from the Union.

Gov. Moonbeam, Jerry Brown, signed a law legalizing illegal immigrants driving on California roads.

Immigrant activists pushed the bill as necessary to remove the “fear of deportation.”

Call me nuts, call me an evil archconservative Tea Party monster, but I rather enjoyed knowing that illegal immigrants were afraid of being deported.

Now thanks to Gov. Moonbeam, when they hit your car and run away because they don’t have insurance, illegal aliens won’t have to worry about being pulled over by the cops and having their cars impounded.

California’s hard-working drug runners are rejoicing tonight.

Of course, the license thing isn’t the entire plan, just a part of it.

The ultimate goal is to turn California into a “sanctuary” state, where illegals will never have to worry about blending into the soon-to-be-extinct American culture ever again.

On just the second day of her new job as the University of California, former Secretary of Homeland Insecurity Janet Napolitano held a meeting with student leaders and informed them that she had urged Gov. Moonbeam to sign the “Trust Act,” which would prohibit police officers from arresting illegals for deportation.

The Lizard Queen, Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi, has also been leaning on Moonbeam to get the Trust Act signed.

“Trust Act”? It should be renamed the “Montezuma’s Revenge Act.”

Democrats want you to believe that the reason for all this is to promote “equality” or some such happy-shiny bull-oney.

The real deal is that Democrats’ big corporate contributors, such as the pharmaceutical giant Merck, want cheap labor they can exploit.

In a September letter to Pelosi and to House Speaker John Boehner, Merck Executive Vice President for Human Resources Mirian Graddick-Weir called for admission into the country of more immigrant workers to “address the reality that there is a global war for talent” and to “align our nation’s immigration policies with its workforce needs at all skill levels to ensure U.S. global competitiveness.”

Merck is going to need laborers to fill its workforce after announcing plans to lay off 16,000 workers — one in five of its employees — who are already in this country legally, or perhaps we should say, expensively.

About 100 companies altogether signed the same letter, including big corporations such as Hewlett-Packard, Cisco, United Technologies, American Express, Procter & Gamble, T-Mobile, Archer-Daniels-Midland, Cigna and Texas Instruments — all of which have laid off hundreds or thousands of workers in recent years.

Meanwhile, the Border Patrol has been ordered to sit on its hands and do nothing to enforce the border, according to Shawn Moran, vice president of the National Border Patrol Council.

“It doesn’t matter whether it’s drugs, bodies, or how large the group is, our agents are being ordered to stand down by Border Patrol management,” said Moran. “I have received reports from our agents in every single sector from San Diego to the Rio Grande Valley in Texas that they are receiving these orders.

“They are not being relieved in place, they are simply being told that someone else is being dispatched, but none of us have seen that occur. We are simply being ordered to stand down and stop tracking and trying to apprehend the criminals.”

Moran said that budget limitations are being cited by management as the excuse for the orders, despite the Border Patrol having a bigger budget than ever.

The sharks apparently smell the blood in the water. According to a Pew Research Center survey, illegal immigration is rising once again after slowing down due to the recession.

Lax border enforcement, the growth of part-time no-skill jobs, government giveaways like the new driver’s license law, and California’s recent decision to increase the minimum wage to $10 per hour have all combined to create a new Gold Rush for illegal aliens.

The so-called leaders of California have given up on America. Being almost all liberals, they long ago gave up on any sense of pride in American traditions or heritage, they’ve long since thrown out any adherence to America’s founding principles, and now they’ve given up even on the idea of a coherent nation with its own borders and sovereignty.

It’s fitting that Moonbeam signed the bill in a ceremony in Downtown Los Angeles, or as it’s known in Mexico, North Tijuana.

Liberals lack the courage of their convictions, and they know that if voters ever woke up long enough to realize what they’re up to, they’d reject it. That’s why they have to sneak their social changes through bit by bit.

This is secession by pieces. The state’s power elite have sold their souls for a seat in the government of what they increasingly fancy as a new, separate nation.
