The recent attacks on Dan Cathy and Chick-Fil-A over Cathy’s support of “the biblical definition of the family unit” show, once again, that leftwing elites who support a radical homosexual agenda are nothing more than hypocrites and bullies.  As I have followed the developing controversy, I have noticed a tone of desperation in the over-the-top attacks on the Chick-Fil-A organization.  It is as if radical homosexual organizations fear that the pro-family, pro-Christian values of one of America’s fastest growing restaurant chains will, once again, take hold in an America that has forgotten these values.

A few things need to be clarified from the outset.  Dan Cathy made no negative comments about homosexuals in the radio interview that caused the current firestorm of controversy.  His exact words were: “We are very much supportive of the family—the biblical definition of the family unit.  We are a family-owned business, a family-led business, and we are married to our first wives.  We give God thanks for that.”  If anyone was going to be vexed by this simple statement, it would make more sense for it to be divorced men than homosexuals.  Another point that should be made is that Chick-Fil-A does not discriminate against homosexuals or any other group.  Homosexuals are just as welcome to purchase a chicken sandwich as anyone else at a Chick-Fil-A.

I have a prediction and some advice for Dan Cathy.  My prediction is that the attacks by leftwing bullies on Chick-Fil-A are going to backfire and generate even more support for the Cathy family and it franchises nationwide.  Further, I predict that the increased support for Chick-Fil-A will translate into increased business—just the opposite of what the homosexual crowd wants.  To see where the overwhelming majority of Americans stand on the issue of family values versus the homosexual agenda, one need only look to the J.C. Penny debacle in which the company hired a well-known lesbian as its marketing spokesperson only to see its profits evaporate overnight and its stock plummet like a rock thrown over a cliff.

My advice for Dan Cathy is this.  First, ignore all of the media-hoopla over your interview.  Like all firestorms, this one will pass and, over time, your company will benefit from being one of the few that has the courage to adhere to a set of principles that most Americans support, even if they do not always follow those principles themselves.  Second, tell Boston Mayor Tom Menino that forbidding any new Chick-Fil-A franchises to open in his city will hurt his constituents more than it will hurt your organization.  After all, there are plenty of other and even better markets for your franchises than Boston.  Tell Obama minion and Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel that his contention that “Chick-Fil-A values are not Chicago values” is, sadly, correct.  But that it is Chicago that suffers because of this fact, not Chick-Fil-A.

Finally, tell the Jim Henson Company that claiming to “…celebrate and embrace diversity” is pure hypocrisy on its part.  Embracing diversity means being open to a variety of different values and different points of view, not just those that you agree with.  In fact, you do NOT embrace diversity until you are prepared to defend values and points of view that are at odds with your own.  What Henson calls “embracing diversity” is nothing more than political double-talk for embracing homosexuality.  Since this is what the Jim Henson Company really means by diversity, it should have the intellectual honesty to say so.
