Having proven ineffectual at deposing the President thus far, coastal elites can only turn up the volume of their hysteria and hypocrisy.
If you want some evidence that we are still winning, you need to read the L.A. Times editorial and see how frustrated the coastal elites have become. According to the L. A. Times editorial board, Donald Trump deserves the headline, “Our Dishonest President.” This from the people who allowed that previous President to repeatedly lie to pass one of the most revolutionary and disastrous laws in history—The Affordable Care Act. We are still dealing with the financial disaster that was promoted by promising anyone who wanted to do so could keep their doctor. Yet that was never worth a statement from the editorial board.
Truly, this piece of hysterical trash shows the coastal elites are afraid.
I thought the first six minutes or so of this CNN commentary were quite insightful.
The lead sentence of the piece discounts the millions of Trump voters:
It was no secret during the campaign that Donald Trump was a narcissist and a demagogue who used fear and dishonesty to appeal to the worst in American voters.
It was “no secret” to Hillary voters and NeverTrumpers. But they never convinced the people who mattered, which is why Donald Trump won. Doubling down on this assertion now only adds to the impression that the editors are in love with their own opinions.
Likewise, they say Trump uses “conspiracy theories” when they have been claiming Vladimir Putin, the ruler of a country with a GDP close to that of Italy’s, has been able to rig a U.S. election.
He has lashed out at journalists, declaring them “enemies of the people,” rather than defending the importance of a critical, independent free press. His contempt for the rule of law and the norms of government are palpable.
And yet reporters and editors are free to lash out at Donald Trump with no fear for their safety. Likewise, the courts countermand his executive orders (without any real basis for doing so) and so the orders are put on hold. Donald Trump has done nothing but show respect for the rule of law.
But where was Barack Obama’s respect for “the importance of a critical, independent free press? Breitbart documents many direct attacks on the media carried out under Obama that the L.A. Times editorial board doesn’t care about. For example:
The Obama administration pursued Fox News reporter James Rosen’s private emails — then misled Congress about it. CNN’s Jake Tapper — to his credit — pointed out that Obama had used the Espionage Act against leakers more than all of his predecessors combined.
And he also wiretapped the AP!
After the Obama administration’s snooping on the AP was exposed in 2013, a senior NBC correspondent excused President Obama on the grounds that he would not have been nasty enough to alienate “one of the president’s most important constituencies, the press.”
Yet Donald Trump is the one we should fear and resist? Give us a break!
