Rick Santorum catapulted into second place this week in the race for the Republican nomination for president.

In doing so, the former Pennsylvania senator made winning the Ohio primary and its 66 delegates on March 6 critical for overtaking Mitt Romney, the former Massachusetts governor.

But can he?

Dale Fellows, a Santorum backer and chairman of the Lake County Republican Party, thinks so. He received hundreds of emails over 12 hours after Santorum’s wins Tuesday in Minnesota, Missouri and Colorado. That leaves Santorum 40 delegates behind frontrunner Mitt Romney.

“The game’s on,” Fellows said.
