Double standard much? The below examples are a testament to how much one political agenda is favored over another. In fact, the Obama Administration has told officials over and over that if they consider a state law unjust, they don’t have to enforce it or even recognize it. That is why these officials have gotten away with breaking state laws and not following the will of their constituents. But when a clerk stands on her religious principles guaranteed under the Constitution, well… we can’t have that going on. That’s lawless! Quick, dig up dirt on her before she accepted Christ as her Savior and smear her mercilessly with it! It’s far too late for that, you morons. You have made her a Christian and a constitutional martyr. Some things are worth going to jail for – I stand with Kim Davis.
From the Conservative Tribune:
Kim Davis, the Rowan County, Kentucky county clerk currently living on three hots and a cot in the county jail for defying U.S. District Court Judge David Bunning’s order to issue same-sex marriage licenses was not held to the same standard that law-defying elected officials were held to when same-sex marriage was illegal.
1. In 2004, Mayor Jason West of New Paltz, New York, directed city officials to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples, which at the time was in direct defiance of New York State law. We can find no evidence of his being jailed for his actions.
2. During the same year, San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom did the same thing, in defiance of California state law. Once again, we can find no instance of a judge sending him to jail for breaking the law.
3. Speaking of California, in 2010, then-Attorney General Jerry Brown refused to answer legal challenges to California’s marriage law. At the time, after California voters passed Proposition 8 banning same-sex marriage, Brown was responsible for defending the state’s laws — even the ones that ran counter to his agenda. Nope, no jail time in this case, either.
4. Lastly, a Montgomery County, Pennsylvania official decided to buck state law in 2013 and began issuing same-sex marriage licenses. D. Bruce Hanes was never cuffed and stuffed for making his own state laws (H/T National Review).
The left considered these people “heroes” for boldly going against the grain and doing what they felt was the right thing to do.
So why has Davis — who many say hasn’t actually violated any law — been incarcerated for upholding her religious liberty while the officials listed above were hailed for their blatant defiance of the state laws they swore to uphold?
This is simply a massive case of liberal hypocrisy. Yes, another one.
Liberals make rules that they don’t follow. Those are for the masses. But when they want something that the majority of voters don’t want, they’ll break every rule in the book to get ‘er done. Since Obama has been in office, they have just gotten more brazen about it. Under the most lawless president in American history, the Marxists are shoving their communist agenda down our throats and daring Americans to do something about it. Like Satan, their time is short, so they are now going whole hog to implement every evil bit of their plan they can. Davis got in the way and for that, they are trying to make an example of her. But it is backfiring and their hypocrisy will only turn more people against them. Davis is the opening salvo to a not-so-quiet revolution.
