One of the Left’s favorite talking points is to suggest that the GOP is leveling a “War on Women” with manufactured outrage and scare tactics like supposed slashes to women’s reproductive health benefits, moves to defund Planned Parenthood, etc. But GOP Congressional hopeful Martha McSally slapped down the phony “war on women” talking point by contrasting the “plight” of U.S. women worrying about health insurance to the actual life-threatening fears experienced by Afghan women.

In a video released Wednesday, Arizona Republican Martha McSally said, “You wanna talk about a war on women? Walk in my shoes down the streets of Kabul… where women have to be covered up… where they’re honor killed if they’ve been raped, where they can’t drive and they can’t travel without the permission of a male relative. That’s a war on women.” McSally, a retired U.S. Air Force colonel, is running for Arizona’s second congressional district seat (vacated by Rep. Gabrielle Giffords) against Democrat Ron Barber and Libertarian Anthony Powell.

McSally was addressing the negative ads that opponent Barber has leveled at her.
