The world seems to be just going insane. What was the Supreme Court thinking? Are they deliberately trying to sow discord?
I mean it’s seems pretty simple. The logical application of the Constitution would have resulted in a court ruling, stating that the term “marriage” is a religious term referring to a man and a woman. That due to lack of foresight this religious term was used in some state and federal laws and statutes. In view of this, and the equal protection under the law provided by the Constitution, all 50 states should allow civil unions/domestic partners between same sex couples to be recognized, and for all legal purposes, shall consider these unions equal to a marriage. But the term “marriage” shall remain a religious term that refers strictly to a man and a woman.
How hard is that? You protect religious freedom, and you provide equal treatment under the law.
Lets face it, it was not that simple because it has nothing to do with equal protection under the law. LGBT is really not concerned about having same sex couples be legally equal to married couples. This is all a cover for an attack on the legitimacy of God’s Word (The Bible) and Christianity as a whole.
One problem is that many Christians have fallen victim to the teaching that if we (Christians) fight back, it doesn’t properly reflect the love of Christ that we are called to display. So as not to offend, we strive to maintain civility and a degree of political correctness in our encounters. “It is the love of God that leads to repentance.” (Rom. 2:4.) This is true, but there is a degree of spiritual discernment that should be applied.
It is long over due that we need to become reacquainted with “righteous indignation.” Christ displayed this for us in the temple court when he overturned the tables of the money changers and formed a whip out of cords and drove them from the temple grounds. (John 2:15)
The Bible tells us that we are to respect those in authority over us. But there is also a distinct line at which this ends, and that is where authority becomes contrary to God’s Word. You be the judge is it better that I obey God or man? (Acts 5:29)
Alright all you legal minds out there lets put God’s gift to work.
God said specifically what His intended meaning was for the rainbow. “Then God said to Noah, “Yes, this rainbow is the sign of the covenant I am confirming with all the creatures on earth.”” (Gen. 9:17)
God was specific about condemning homosexuality. “Do not practice homosexuality, having sex with another man as with a woman. It is a detestable sin.” (Lev 18:22)
The fact that LGBT have chosen to use God’s rainbow as a symbol for a life style that has been condemned by God as an detestable sin, is not a coincidence.
This perversion of a religious symbol should be viewed as hate speech, at least theft of intellectual property, an attack on religious freedom, something! We need to stand up, not allow our beliefs to be compromised for the sake of political correctness.
Where is your righteous indignation? Come on, if we allow this what’s next human sacrifice? Oh, wait that’s right, we are already a nation that allows babies to be sacrificed to idols. What? You think not? The fact is that the vast majority of abortions are elective, a form of birth control. How is it any different, sacrificing a baby to some ancient stone idol, than sacrificing a baby to the idol of self?
Very few years ago the majority of the world looked up to America as a nation of freedom, justice, a nation that displayed a moral compass, a Christian nation. This was the perception through out the world. This perception is quickly shifting to one of a nation of corruption, lies, atrocities, and openly allowing and condoning what much of the world sees as abominations.
This article will be perverted and used as an example of hate and bigotry by the true haters out there. Not understanding the Christian perspective at all. Granted some do understand the Christian perspective, they must deny it’s validity as a self defense mechanism. To do otherwise would be to acknowledge some personal responsibility.
Christians do not hate homosexuals, lesbians, transgender, or bisexuals anymore than God does. “But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.” (Rom. 5:8)
Christians believe LGBT should be respected and shown God’s love as with all God’s creation. (1Tim. 2:1-6)
Christians believe that LGBT lifestyles are representative of sins according to God’s Word. (Lev. 18:22, Lev. 20:13, 1Cor. 6:9, 1Tim 1:10, Rom. 1:26-27)
Christians believe that we all have sinned. “For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.” (Rom. 3:23) That’s an all inclusive “everyone,” that means that in that respect, LGBT are no different from anybody else. So for a Christian to think of an LGBT as any different from themselves, (everyone has sinned) is hypocritical. That is not to say that they condone the sin, hate the sin, love the sinner.
Christians believe that sin (a violation of God’s law) results in the second death (eternal separation from God.) “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Rom. 6:23)
Christians believe that Christ paid the cost of all our sins by dying on the cross. “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.” (John 3:16,17)
Christians believe that Christ defeated death and rose on the third day and is seated at the right hand of God. (Acts 10:40, Mark 16:19)
Christians believe that God offers forgiveness of our sins through the willing sacrifice of His Son. That God offers this freely for trusting in Christ death and resurrection. “If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Rom. 10:9)
The persecution of Christians is going to increase rapidly and become more and more publicly accepted. Remember that the Spirit within you is not a Spirit of timidity. (2Tim. 1:7) Keep each other strong, iron sharpens iron. (Prov. 27:17) Remember a cord of three strands is not easily broken. (Eccl. 4:12)
Be strengthen in the knowledge that God will have His rainbow back.
One final thought, there are those that will read this article as just so much foolishness. “For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.” (1Cor. 1:18)
