Truth is stranger than fiction, they say. In my prophetic novel of the near future, The Noah Option, I wrote about Americans moving into undisclosed locations called “Arks” where they could live in peace and keep their families safe. Last week, carried a story about a group building a separate community to keep their families safe.

In my story, Americans leave and “go Ark” via the old Civil War era Underground Railroad routes used to smuggle slaves to freedom in Canada. “Coyotes” – those who smuggle illegal aliens across the Mexican border into the US – now begin smuggling Americans out of the US. Asked about missing people, neighbors shrug and say, “They went Ark.”

“Gone Ark” and “Gone 2 by 2” graffiti and bumper stickers appear all over America in my novel. Hard working Americans, their livelihoods drowning under a flood of coercion and control, decide to be like Noah and leave for Ark locations to save their families.

Fiction became fact in the CNSnews story about people building a retreat to live in. This place would be free of government “nanny-state” conditions and populated with neighbors who mind their own business. Chillingly, my fictional prophecy is coming true.

Gregory Gwyn-Williams, Jr. reported “A group of like-minded patriots, bound together by pride in American exceptionalism, plan on building an armed community to protect their liberty. . . The community will comprise of 3,500 to 7,000 families of patriotic Americans who “voluntarily choose to live together in accordance with Thomas Jefferson’s ideal of Rightful Liberty.” According to the Citadel website, Rightful Liberty means that “neighbors keep their noses out of other neighbors’ business, that neighbors live and let live.”

Lest you think my metaphor of “drowning under a flood of coercion and control” is merely hyperbole, President Obama last week signed 23 Executive Actions about gun control in one sitting. 23! And that’s just him alone on one day! Every week his agencies flood us with hundreds of rules and regulations (each agency!). Townhall reports 17,212 rules and restrictions per year in Obama’s first two years. America is drowning in regulations.

It’s worse than 40 days and 40 nights – it’s 4 more years! Start looking for gopherwood.
