Herman Cain took fifth in Iowa, but first in Georgia.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports Cain won the Peach State’s GOP straw poll. It doesn’t hurt that the businessman hails from Atlanta and hosted a popular radio show in the state.
Ron Paul came in second in the poll, as he did in Iowa. Rick Perry, the national frontrunner, came in third. Newt Gingrich, also from Georgia, nabbed fourth place.
Then came the drop off.
Michele Bachmann, the Minnesota congresswoman who won Iowa’s poll, garnered less than three percent of the votes for sixth. Mitt Romney, at six percent, didn’t fare much better in the state.
