For the first time since the election, Hillary Clinton speaks publicly against Trump in a bid to become the leader of the resistance.
Is Barack Obama happy when Hillary Clinton speaks out? In my opinion he should be concerned that she is doing more harm than good to the liberal cause.
Clinton speaks lies when she says that the Republican plan would have “kicked 24 million people off their health insurance.” As I have mentioned before, that estimate included many who would choose to drop overpriced insurance because they would no longer be fined.
The Associated Press reported,
A spirited Hillary Clinton took on the Trump administration Tuesday in one of her first public speeches since she lost the presidential election, criticizing the country’s Republican leaders on everything from health care to the shortage of women appointees in top administration positions.
Cracking jokes about her November defeat and her months out of the limelight since, Clinton spoke to thousands of businesswomen in San Francisco, joking there was no place she’d rather be, “other than the White House.”
Without mentioning President Donald Trump by name, Clinton faulted the Republican presidential administration repeatedly, including calling its representation of women in top jobs “the lowest in a generation.”
She rebuked White House press secretary Sean Spicer, again not by name, for hours earlier Tuesday chiding a black woman journalist during a news conference for shaking her head.
“Too many women have had a lifetime of practice taking this kind of indignity in stride,” Clinton said.
“I mean, it’s not like I didn’t know all the nasty things they were saying about me. I thought some of them were kind of creative,” she said. “But you just have to keep going.”
Clinton declared herself appalled at a much-circulated photo showing an all-male group of Republican lawmakers last month negotiating women’s coverage in health care legislation, noting a social-media parody of it that showed an all-dog panel deciding on feline care.
Last week’s failure of the GOP health care bill, Clinton told a cheering, applauding crowd, was “a victory for all Americans.”
She’s right about it being a victory, but only because the Republican bill was too much like Obamacare.
But what is she hoping to accomplish? Every time Hillary Clinton speaks she reminds the country that she lost—that a majority of voters in a majority of states rejected her. No matter how Trump might disappoint some of his voters, most will be reminded that they are still glad that the nation was spared a Clinton Presidency.
I would think that some on the Left would be concerned. Barack Obama can at least say he won two elections. Hillary Clinton has only lost two national elections. How can she possibly help the Democrats win elections?
Of course, the real reason Hillary Clinton came back into the limelight was probably to shore up support among progressives. Many Obama and Bernie Sanders supporters don’t like her. And many blame her for blowing the election. If she doesn’t want to be marginalized among the Democrats, and risk being left unprotected to face future legal problems, she needs to try to stay popular with her supporters. In addition, she probably wants her daughter to enter politics!
