Americans appear shocked by recent revelations by Obamacare architect Jonathan Gruber that the Obama administration leveraged our “stupidity” to market the so-called Affordable Care Act and especially at the arrogance of “slipping something over” on us idiots. Political pundits from the conservative persuasion say “we told you so!” Those on the Democ-rat side try to spin it as a normal marketing tactic used by anyone trying to obtain acceptance of a product. The difference is, we do not have to accept or purchase those things that companies market through deception, however, Obamacare is the law and we are in bondage to it.

The shock and awe is hard to fathom since Nancy Pelosi, the Speaker of the House at that time told us “we have to pass the bill to find out what’s in it!” The past six years of the Obama administration has demonstrated his, the Democ-rats and RINOs’ propensity to deceive the American public with an unprecedented series of scandals, lies, policy failures, crises, and outright lawlessness.

A few days ago I heard a university student being interviewed about the mid-term elections. The interviewer asked if he thought the country was headed in the right direction. His response was, “man I don’t care!” The interviewer asked why he didn’t care. He replied, “I don’t care enough to think about why I don’t care!” Unfortunately, Mr. Gruber appears to be correct in his assessment of the American voter. Many of us are either stupid, or severely overcome by the “Apathy Virus.” In either case we are allowing our leaders to get by with tyranny and the destruction of America.

Some of us take the time to know what is going on within our nation. Many do not care. The real problem is with those of us who recognize what is happening do nothing material to change it. I am reminded of a letter that Jesus dictated in the first century to the Apostle John to send to a church in the famous Asian city of Laodicea.

As with the other cities, the name Laodicea tells us a great deal about these people and thus about our time. It means “the people legislate.” Laodicea was a bustling center of economic growth located in what is now modern-day Turkey. It became very wealthy through its banking and commerce.  Laodicea also prospered from its garment industry, benefiting from the luxurious black wool produced in the surrounding Lycus Valley.  There even was a medical school in the city, and they became known for producing a widely used medicinal eye salve. Laodicea was the wealthiest city in the province of Phrygia and enjoyed the benefit of hot springs heated by underground molten lava. These lukewarm springs were pleasant for bathing, but sickening to drink. Comfortable and affluent, medicated and indoctrinated, the democratic assembly at Laodicea was similarly lukewarm—spewing forth a sickening and polluted mix of fables and truth—poison. They were tolerant of false teachings, and swallowed political and religious heresy. They were famous for their self-reliance, but filled with political and spiritual complacency.

Jesus’ message was to the church in Laodicea. (Revelation 3:15-16) They had joined the culture in spiritual apathy and were not concerned about the deterioration of morals in the city. Jesus told the members of this church: “I know your deeds” i.e., with what you occupy yourselves, your business and enterprise. “You are neither cold nor hot,” i.e., you are apathetic to what is going on. “I wish you were either cold or hot,” i.e., cold or disinterested enough to get out of the way or fervent and zealous enough to make a difference. “So because you are lukewarm and neither hot nor cold, I will vomit you out of my mouth.” Jesus says to the apathetic, “you make me so sick I will vomit you out.” He also reminded them that even though they produced advanced medication at that time for the eyes, they were spiritually and culturally blind. This very graphic depiction is designed to underscore just how intolerant our Lord is of His followers engaging in tolerance, apathy, and lack of a passion for truth.

So, I’ll land the plane. It is time for those of us who are conservative, stand for truth, and have convictions about our nation and the wrong direction it is going, to stop being “lukewarm!” I don’t know about you but I’d sure hate to make my Lord sick enough that He needs to vomit me out. The time is here for us to become hot and passionate in expressing our outrage to our leaders that we will not tolerate continued lies, deception, manufactured crises, sloppy policy, scandals, lawlessness and the destruction of our constitution. It is time for us to take our nation back by loud and unmistakable demands to restore integrity to our government. No more IRS, Fast and Furious, Benghazi, Ebola, Obamacare, ISIS handling deception, bogus climate change and lies about unemployment and the economy. It is time to seal our borders and deal lawfully with the illegals that are here. We want transparency and we want the truth. We’ve just sent new representatives to Congress and we have a new order of power in the Senate. Let’s not let them rest. Keep their phones, emails, Facebook, Twitter and websites active with our oversight and demands for truth and honesty.
