Walking through downtown Nashua today, Republican presidential candidate Jon Huntsman greeted a 5-year-old girl, petted a Great Dane, and stopped an elderly woman crossing the street, who greeted him with an “Oh my goodness!” He slid into a booth at Norton’s Classic Café with Carole Eaton, 65, and her daughter.
“You’ve got to find the person who can take it all the way, be electable,” Huntsman told them.
“You’re a Republican, that starts it,” said Eaton. Then she said she liked former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney.
“Keep an open mind,” Huntsman urged her.
Eaton said she would. Eaton later told reporters she lived in Massachusetts, not New Hampshire, which holds the nation’s first primary next Tuesday.
