Our nation was once upon a time a nation of God fearing country folk and God fearing town folk. The brave and the strong of spirit were the backbone of this once great nation of the United States. In God we trusted and of God we spoke. To point heavenward was an accepted gesture. To bow ones head in humble reverence was an okay thing to do. To honor ones parents and elders was a given and the paying of a tribute to the fallen hero was done with a Christian hymn. Honesty was taught in the home and at the school. The respect of human life was instilled with the first commandment from God… “Thou shalt not kill.” Those words along with their companion words were written and stood in stone in our city parks. The flag was respected for it stood for our God given freedom.
Rainbows were painted by children and the story of the first rainbow was known by all and the child’s work of art was hung with pride in the kitchen on the fridge with a gratitude for God’s special promise. Gay meant happy and was a good name for both male and female and was sung in Christmas carols with joy for Christmas was Christmas and not just a holiday. The word gay had nothing to do with sex.
If a young man got a girl pregnant he did the right thing and married her and they became parents. If the same young man didn’t want the responsibility of raising a child then he didn’t have sex. It was called abstinence and was the best prevention. If a person had a need for food and shelter then he worked to secure the means to fulfill that need. There was a time when hard work was a source of pride. When a man’s word was as good as gold and the wear on a person’s shoes told how many miles he had walked. It was a good day then when the sons of America were seen trying to walk in their father’s footsteps… a good thing and a noble thing for little boys to do.
There was a time when neighbors helped each other and bore each other’s burdens… raised their barns and their children together. These are not the long past ways of life, they were just yesterdays’ facts of life. A simpler life when words meant what they were meant to mean. When boys were boys and girls were girls and if the boys had their pocketknife in their Levi pocket then it meant that they were prepared for anything and if their hunting rifle was mounted in the back window of their truck in the school parking lot it was okay for it only meant that they were going rabbit hunting after school with the guys.
Not so long ago teachers were not afraid of their students and they were not afraid of being politically correct nor were they mandated how or what to teach by the government and students went to school without fear. School lunches were good and wholesome with large servings and so what if there were homemade cookies or cupcakes brought to the classroom. No one worried about calorie counting for recess was for running and jumping and being rough and tumbling and those calories were never enough for there were chores to do when school was out.
Heaven help us. Where have we gone wrong? Oh no! We let the one true God be replaced by the government! Now it is the government that the people fear instead of God. We let the special interest groups rule instead of the majority. We let the atheists remove the laws once written in stone and found in our parks and in our city halls and then we forgot to teach them to our children. We replaced our prayers of gratitude with greed and our moral straightness with abortion. We let the confused confuse our children until gender is a question instead of a given by God. We allow dishonest men like Obama lead our country further and farther away from the Christian roots on which it was founded and now we must ask ourselves; “Where have the honest Abe’s gone?” and “How do we save our country now?”
No More Rainbows
by Reneta Adamson
Gone from the pure is the rainbow,
Stolen it is from those who know,
Taken away and tarnished below,
By those whom wickedness sow.
Gone is our freedom to self-govern,
Stolen is our say to what our children learn,
Taken away is the desire to work and earn,
Is it too late for our faith in God to return?
Gone is the true meaning of marriage,
Stolen is our traditional person to engage,
Satan attacks the family and a war doth rage,
For next it will be our children of underage.
Gone is the right to be born or to live,
Stolen is the mother’s desire to give,
When God condemns us, will we survive?
Pray that our Nation our God will forgive.
In Genesis chapter 7:3 it says: “…the male and the female; to keep seed alive upon the face of all the earth.” God was speaking of the fowl of the air but it applies to all life.
In Genesis 9:8-17 is found the promise of the rainbow:
8 ¶And God spake unto Noah, and to his sons with him, saying,
9 And I, behold, I establish my covenant with you, and with your seed after you;
10 And with every living creature that is with you, of the fowl, of the cattle, and of every beast of the earth with you; from all that go out of the ark, to every beast of the earth.
11 And I will establish my covenant with you; neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of a flood; neither shall there any more be a flood to destroy the earth.
12 And God said, This is the token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations:
13 I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth.
14 And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud:
15 And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh.
16 And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth.
17 And God said unto Noah, This is the token of the covenant, which I have established between me and all flesh that is upon the earth.
Just reading a few articles, like these listed here, gives an image of just how far our nation has fallen. We are truly in a dark day:
