President Obama announced today that his administration would follow the models pioneered by Google and his presidential campaign to make government smarter.
“Back in 2007, when I was first running for this office, I had the opportunity to visit Google headquarters in Mountain View in Silicon Valley to discuss ways we could use technology to allow more citizens to participate in the democracy and bring the government still largely in the 20th-century into the 21st century. After all, we had already set out to build a new type of campaign,” Obama began.
The president also said, “We, the people, realize this government belongs to us. It’s up to each and every one of us to make it work better.”
And Obama said he met with his cabinet today to discuss the issue.
