Texas Republican Rep. Ron Paul responded to a series of confrontational pictures with Texas Gov. Rick Perry which surfaced after Wednesday night’s Republican debate at the Reagan library in Simi Valley, Calif.
The pictures — taken during a commercial break in the presidential debate — showed Perry grasping Paul’s wrist and strongly gesturing. They had some in the media speculating that with all the attacks Paul’s campaign has launched against the governor, Perry had perhaps given the long-time congressman an aggressive piece of his mind.
Not so, according to Paul, who added that despite their long history in Texas, the pair had never met prior to the debate.
“The truth is I wish it were a much more interesting than that, because I don’t even recall the moment that that was occurring and I don’t remember exactly what he said. We didn’t have any cross words,” he said. “So I’m sorry about that.”
