Continuing his campaign for the presidential nomination, Governor Mitt Romney visited the Deer Park Water Withdrawal site of Mountain Energy Services in Tunkhannock on Thursday, a company that specializes in many services related to the natural gas industry, and toured the company’s facility in Tunkhannock with owners Matt and Ryan Andrews before addressing local campaign supporters.
According to press release handed out at the event, the Tunkhannock-based company was started by Matt and Ryan Andrews in 2009 after their family, owners of Deer Park Lumber, which is also located in Tunkhannock, saw a need to diversify their interests.
“The onset of activity in the Marcellus Shale prompted the Andrews brothers to create a start-up company to provide critical services to the expanding drilling and completions operations,” the release said. “The company now directly or indirectly employs more than 200 local workers.”
“We want Mr. Romney to see how the natural gas production industry has created many secure jobs for locals in our region by showing him our operations and introducing him to our dedicated employees,” Ryan Andrews said in the press release.
