Bill Clinton said that “abortion should not only be safe and legal, it should be rare” in a speech to the DNC on August 29, 1996. Do Democrats really believe this, or is it just something they say in order to placate the public into permitting such a heinous act? Since 1973, the year the Supreme Court upheld Roe v. Wade, there has been an estimated 54,559,615 murders by abortion, according to figures from the Guttmacher Institute (GI) – a special research affiliate of Planned Parenthood. Abortions spiked after legalization under Roe v. Wade, but the trend has been in decline from its peak in the early 1980s. Looking at the graphs released by GI, in connection with the Centers for Disease Control (CDC,) they show that the numbers climbed slightly in the early 1990s then fell again until leveling off in the late 2000s (the last year of the graph is 2008.)
As a conservative, Christian, and human being, I find abortion to be a deplorable act of infanticide that only Josef Mengele, the Nazi SS officer also known as The Angle of Death, could be proud of. The fact that our Supreme Court found a constitutional basis to uphold this sadistic form of birth control is something of a mystery to me and millions of others throughout the country. For now, however, it is required that all states allow abortions to operate within their borders. Regrettably, this practice is likely to be with us for the remainder of time, unless we, as humans, can progress beyond such a shameful and barbaric practice.
As I write this article I am struck by two things. First, neo-liberals speculate, through TV and movies, that if we were to ever be visited by extra-terrestrials they may be peaceful, but seeing that we are so brutal these E.T.s would want to eliminate us from the universe. The insinuation being that we must end war and hatred in order to be as peace-loving as the E.T.s to ultimately save ourselves. But then they vehemently support unfettered access to slaying unborn babies, and many wish to allow slaughtering of unborn babies during the third trimester – known as late term abortion. Secondly, I am struck by the fact that neo-liberals abhor hatred, they wish for everyone to “coexist,” and they demand tolerance of all forms of social deviancies, but then they demand the allowance of the ending of life in opposition of all those tenants of their ideology. If you support life, then the neo-liberals will violate those tenants and they will have hatred for you, refuse to coexist with you, and reject any form of tolerance towards you.
The recent developments on the abortion issue unfortunately have not brought about a new debate on the matter. If you have not already heard, which if you do not watch Fox News then the odds are that you did not hear because of the main stream media’s blackout, Kermit Gosnell was sentenced to three life sentences for illegally killing viable babies in the womb, and some outside of the womb, and the details of his horrific abortion practices would make the movies Hostel, Hostel II, and Hostel III, look like a Disney vacation. Speculation has arisen that there are many more practices like that of Kermit Gosnell’s. We wouldn’t know though, because there is little oversight of abortion clinics. In a recent Fox News Special, reports show that despite numerous accounts and concerns by many people this Mengele was rarely, if ever, investigated or even visited by state officials since 1993.
On May 15, the Houston Chronicle reported that another Mengele-like abortion doctor was being investigated by Harris County and Texas Department of State Health Services authorities for illegally performing late-term abortions. Former employees of Douglas Karpen gave detailed reports and “grisly photographs” supporting the allegations. How many more like this will come to light?
The FBI claims that there are around 50 serial killers in the United States, at any given time. It is not unheard of that a serial killer is highly intelligent and mentally stable enough to work their way to a position of being a Medical Doctor. When I hear about events like what took place in Gosnell’s clinic, and now possibly in Karpen’s clinic, I have to think that these men have the same mental defect of murderers, sadists, and other criminally insane individuals. I have to think that men like this seek careers like abortionists in order to fulfill their demented desire to take life from others.
I further fear that because abortion has become a third rail of politics that oversight of clinics and doctors is rarer than Bill Clinton’s idea of the act itself being rare. The fact that Gosnell practiced for 20 years without being visited by state health officials makes me wonder how many more ‘doctors’ in Pennsylvania are being allowed to operate without oversight? One doctor in Pennsylvania and now another in Texas may be just the beginning of a surge of incidences like these.
These stories should be a new opening for us to begin a new dialog on the deplorable nature of infanticide, and how we, as a species, want to be regarded. Neo-liberals ask for society to be tolerant, civil, and nonviolent, but yet they cannot even extend those ideals to the helpless, innocent, unborn babies that they
