As the debate on immigration moves into high gear with presidential action and GOP rhetoric we see another example by this administration of “Where you stand, depends on where you sit, and how it benefits you”. Time and again the Obama administration has stood for something until they realized it was not in their best interest for power or financial gain. It has become the rule of law in our political system, do whatever it takes to maintain power no matter what the cost to the American people, even if it means violating the constitution or the law. This attitude is not new, but is being implemented like never before by the liberal Democrat ruling class. With all the evidence that is available to show the hypocrisy of the current administration, the media just keeps running cover instead of indicting them with their own words. Hypocrisy is a problem with both parties but the only party that is ever indicted by the media is the GOP, and with far less and often times manufactured evidence.
The American people have rejected amnesty and the presidents other policies time and again and would prefer he spend more time fixing the economy versus dragging it further down. Even after stating that he was not up for election but his policies were he continues on his own agenda after his policies were soundly rejected by Americans in the recent election. His current actions show his arrogance and the contempt he harbors for the law abiding American public as he plans to move with actions that he has stated “would be very difficult to defend legally’
Even more frustrating is that in his book the Audacity of Hope, he agrees with the arguments against immigration. When talking about the magnitude of the immigrant issue he stated that “The number of immigrants added to the labor force every year is of a magnitude not seen in this country for over a century. If this huge influx of mostly low-skill workers provides some benefits to the economy as a whole — especially by keeping our workforce young, in contrast to an increasingly geriatric Europe and Japan — it also threatens to depress further the wages of blue-collar Americans and put strains on an already overburdened safety net [emphasis added].” He continued, “When I see Mexican flags waved at pro-immigration demonstrations, I sometimes feel a flush of patriotic resentment. When I’m forced to use a translator to communicate with the guy fixing my car, I feel a certain frustration.” But 180 degree changes are not uncommon with Obama as evidenced by multiple issues such as being against big government spending until he became president, against lobbyists on the hill and on staff until he hired them, against gay marriage until needed support of gay community, against domestic spying until he started using the government against any dissenters, against voter intimidation until it occurred against the white community. This post racial president that was going to unite has been the most racially motivated, prejudiced, and divisive leader ever. His dream of equality is not based on content of character, but color of skin. He lied about transparency, health care and now continues to lie about John Gruber even though he has called him one of the greatest minds in academia, and the federal government paid him millions to consult on healthcare. With all the lies and about faces it is more apparent that the abuse of power and all that is going on is not by being surprised or uninformed but rather by intent to fulfill his promise to “ fundamentally change America.” We are seeing a community organizer that does not fix anything, but rather agitates the situation and the people. Right now he is defiantly poking a sharp stick in the eyes of every American as he goes it alone with immigration. Obama blasted George Bush for using executive orders and powers until he became the emperor. And even though he has stated I am not a dictator, I am the president of the United States, he continues to act like a dictator. Even those who have supported him are not happy with his actions as John Turly a liberal constitutional scholar and Obama supporter, at George Washington University, has criticized Obamas desire to bypass congress as setting a dangerous precedent as well as being unconstitutional. Turly told congress that “there’s no license for going it alone in our system, and what he’s done is very problematic. He’s told agencies not to enforce some laws which has effectively rewritten laws through active interpretation that I find very problematic.” He went on to state that we are at a very dangerous place and that “No one in our system can ‘go it alone’ — not Congress, not the courts, and not the president.” Turley stated again this week that Obama has; become a government of one…. What the president is suggesting is tearing at the very fabric of the Constitution. We have a separation of powers … to protect Liberty, to keep any branch from assuming so much authority that they become a threat to Liberty.”
Recently I met a woman who came to this country from South America without anything. She now owns a thriving business and is a proud U.S. citizen that did it legally. In very clear English she states she can’t understand those who refuse to appreciate the freedom to legally become anything you want in this country. She feels anyone not willing to pay the small inconvenience of following the law and assimilating into American society does not deserve the reward of opportunity.
Wouldn’t it be great if everyone here legally and illegally felt that our laws were worth following because of the opportunities this country offers? Wouldn’t it be great if our president felt that way?
