Beck-Palin Rally in Washington Drawing Supporters of `Babies, Guns, Jesus'
Fox News commentator Glenn Beck has a dream about the rally he and Tea Party heroine Sarah Palin plan in front of the Lincoln Memorial tomorrow in Washington: A crowd that organizers say could reach 300,000.
Beck insists that the assembly -- on the same steps where Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his “I Have a Dream” speech exactly 47 years earlier -- isn’t a political rally. Instead, it’s billed as a celebration of the military, patriotism and American heritage.

Crist says he 'misspoke' on healthcare
Florida Gov. Charlie Crist (I) is walking back comments he made in an interview earlier today about the recently enacted healthcare law.
Crist is mounting an independent bid for Senate against Republican Marco Rubio and Democratic Rep. Kendrick Meek.
Crist told a local TV station Friday that he would have voted in favor of President Obama's healthcare proposal were he in the Senate. That was a reversal of his previous position against the healthcare law.
"I would have voted for it," Crist said in the interview. "But I think it can be done better, I really do."

No Federal Bailouts for State and Local Government Pension Problems
There is bad news and worse news for state governments faced with underfunded pension promises. First, a new academic study shows that not only is the total gap between the pensions that state governments have promised to pay their employees and the available resources much larger than previous estimates, but that gap cannot be closed with easy changes to those promises.

Why is Obama Letting Non-Citizens Get Away with Voting?
As Matt Mayer vividly describes in a new Heritage Web Memo, the Obama administration is implementing a de facto amnesty that will allow the vast majority of illegal aliens to remain in the United States without being disturbed by the Department of Homeland Security or any attempts to deport them. We can now add one more general amnesty that the administration is apparently extending – no prosecution of illegal voting by noncitizens and a green light to becoming a citizen even if you have violated federal law.

Malkin: Hurricane Katrina and the Race Card - Five Years Later
This weekend, on the 5th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, civil rights activists and hip-hop stars will hold what they call a "healing ceremony" to commemorate the disaster. President Obama will speak at a separate event in New Orleans on Sunday. But don't expect any of these reconciliation-seeking leaders to confront the indelible stain of racial demagoguery left by the left in Katrina's aftermath. Hating George W. Bush means never having to say you're sorry.
