“Is Governor Cuomo looking to take your guns? Sick of the media outing law abiding gun owners? Are you a lawful New York gun owner seeking lower taxes?” Then move on down to Texas, says the Lonestar State’s Attorney General Greg Abbott.
In response to a law passed by the New York state Legislature Wednesday at the urging of New York’s Democratic Governor Andrew Cuomo that bans ammunition magazines that hold more than seven bullets, Abbott’s campaign issued two ads in the Empire State inviting lawful gun owners to move to the state of Texas, where their Second Amendment rights would be respected. Abbott posted both of the ads on his Facebook page and asked supporters to “LIKE” their favorite one.
The first ad is a “WANTED” ad that seeks “law abiding New York gun owners looking for lower taxes and greater opportunity.” The second ad directly attacks New York’s first-term Governor and rumored 2016 presidential candidate Andrew Cuoumo and makes mention of the now-infamous decision by a New York newspaper to print the names and addresses of local gun owners last month. Two gun owners’ homes have since been broken into and robbed as a direct result of the publication of the interactive gun map. Abbott’s “WANTED” ad is currently winning the contest with nearly 4,500 likes, and nearly three times the amount of likes as the Cuomo ad, which has just over 1,600 likes.
