Tom Cruise said recently that his “brutal” work as an actor and father is “as hard as fighting in Afghanistan.” The circumstances surrounding this statement are clouded, but only slightly. Cruise was discussing the ongoing custody battle over his daughter Suri, and bemoaning the claim that he hadn’t seen his daughter for more than three months.

Supposedly, while he was working on his latest movie, the culmination of his lack of contact with Suri and the horrifying work of being an actor brought him to a situation as harsh as those experienced by our bravest on the battlefield.

It seems that perhaps our good friend Mr. Cruise needs a reality check to understand how easy his life is, and why he doesn’t even realize all the things our nation’s bravest men and women face on a daily basis.
