Is there any sector of American life that is more liberal, anti-American and anti-Christian than the humanities and arts?
We know someone who is a professional actress involved mostly with on-stage productions. Once she became involved with the theater, she abandoned most of her Christian values and beliefs. She had adamantly defended homosexuality and same-sex marriage. She once told us that the majority of her friends in the theater are homosexuals and therefore she sees nothing wrong with it. When questioned about God’s condemnation of homosexuality, she basically said that God and the Bible are wrong. After all, her friends are all good people in her eyes.
Have you seen or heard many of the things said at the various entertainment awards programs lately? The most recent Academy Awards was basically a Trump and Republican bashing gala. Many of the actors and actresses made it sound like President Donald Trump, the Republicans and most conservatives are the scum of the earth and responsible for all of the world’s problems.
Our former pastor’s brother worked in Hollywood for years. He is an ardent Christian and worked with actors like Michael Landon before his tragic death. He told us that there are some Christians in Hollywood but they are few and far between. For the most part, he said the industry is riddled with liberals who are against everything Christian, conservative and American. They enjoy their lavish styles and don’t like to be held accountable for many of their actions.
Take a look at the popular programs on primetime television today and you find the vast majority of them mock Christianity, conservative values, the role of fathers, police, pastors and most authority figures. They heavily promote open, pre-marital and extra-marital sex. They undermine the traditional family unit and promote gay, lesbian and transgender rights. There are many offensive words heard on television today that were never used a few decades ago.
How many decent movies have you seen lately that didn’t contain strong language, extreme violence, nudity or sexual content? A number of popular movies today promote homosexuality, transgenderism and racism. Movies fit for families to view together are few and far between.
The arts aren’t much different. Virtually everything disgusting and offensive can be created and publicly displayed in the name of art. Dr. Kevorkian, the famed doctor death who assisted in a number of suicides, painted pictures and then stained the frames with his own blood, and they were a hit.
Another instance, artist Andres Serrano made headlines with his artistic photo called ‘Piss Christ’.
“The photo depicted a small plastic crucifix submerged in a glass of the artist’s own urine. The piece was a winner of the Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art’s ‘Awards in the Visual Arts’ competition, which is sponsored in part by the National Endowment for the Arts, a United States Government agency that offers support and funding for artistic projects.”
For centuries, many great artists painted or sculpted nudes, but far too many of today’s artists go even further and display sexually graphic images and get away with it by calling it art.
When our daughter took freshman English in college, her instructor showed them a pornographic video and justified it by saying it was art. When our daughter protested due to her Christian faith, she was basically told to live with it and grow up. The school even supported the instructor.
That’s why I was overjoyed to hear that President Trump’s newly proposed budget plan called for major reductions in the funding for the most liberal sector in America, the arts and humanities. According to the following report:
“President Trump’s proposed budget calls for big cuts in a wide array of domestic programs — among them, agencies that fund the arts, humanities and public media.”
“Funding for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting would be cut to zero under the proposal, and the National Endowment for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Humanities would be eliminated entirely, the first time any president has proposed such a measure.”
After all, why should tax payers be paying for or supplementing offensive, disgusting and perverted artwork, theater, television and movies?
White House Budget Director Mick Mulvaney went on MSNBC to defend Trump’s budget plan, where he made his case, saying:
“Can we really continue to ask a coal miner in West Virginia or a single mom in Detroit to pay for these programs? The answer was no. We can ask them to pay for defense and we will, but we can’t ask them to continue to pay for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.”
While this sounds great to many of us conservatives, liberals are all up in arms, demanding their taxpayer funded handouts. America was not built on handouts but on hard work and sweat. If a business or industry cannot pay for itself, taxpayers should not be forced to foot the bill for them. Hooray for Trump finally doing what’s need to be done budget wise for years.
