The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) began in the wake of the tragedies of 9/11/2001. Its stated goal is to “strengthen the security of the nation’s transportation systems while ensuring the freedom of movement for people and commerce.”
But what has it really accomplished in its ten-year history? The following chart outlines the frustrating reality of just how much the TSA is actually costing taxpayers, and just how little we have actually benefited from such a huge expense. In fact, taxpayers and travelers alike have become increasingly agitated with the TSA due to its many miscues and overall lack of willingness to take any responsibility for its actions.
Perhaps if we all printed a copy of this chart and shoved it down our pants the next time we got on an airplane, the TSA officials would begin to get the message that we have had enough!
