New findings from the Census Bureau show that Asians and Hispanics are the nation’s fastest-expanding large minority groups, and shed light on which states are seeing most population growth from the groups.

Chinese remain the largest Asian demographic in the U.S., with 3.4 million people, or 22.8% of the country’s Asian population.

Hispanics, the nation’s fastest-growing demographic, account for 16.3% of the U.S. population. During the past decade, the Hispanic population grew fastest in the South, as Hispanics continued to disperse from traditional gateway states such as California and Arizona.
