While some high school athletes have allowed their naiveté to convince them that Colin Kaepernick is getting positive attentions, others are far more wise.
The “Kaepernick Effect” has been spreading across the nation, with student athletes at all levels of sport choosing to show varying levels of disrespect to the National Anthem to gain personal attention for themselves under the false pretense of “oppression”. When it occurs at the high school level, it is most certainly a case of petty bandwagoning, and our nation’s wonderful coaches and teachers have done a fine job of curbing the practice in some areas of the U.S.
For instance, in upstate New York, where a technical malfunction caused the National Anthem to be unable to be played over the school’s public address system before a high school girls’ volleyball match. What happened next was pure and beautiful patriotism.
