Your teenager, or your child’s teenager, can’t get a job these days. Any job.
Employment for teens is down to 25%.
Only about 25 percent of 16- to 19-year-olds currently are working, a drop of 10 percentage points from just five years ago, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
If a teen can’t get a job, what should a parent do? It’s obvious to me. The teen should get a used college level textbook for under $20, and study to pass a CLEP exam. If he passes, he gets full credit at many colleges. That will save his parents a bundle.
Take three CLEP exams in August, and save a much bigger bundle.
It is possible to quiz out of the first two years of college.
