Buried in the background of Wisconsin’s attempted recall of Gov. Scott Walker and his would-be replacement by Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett is an issue that Washington voters should consider when they elect a new Evergreen State governor this fall.

The issue is gun rights, a debate sparked by last week’s murder spree in Seattle by Ian Stawicki that began at a Roosevelt Avenue cafe and ended on a West Seattle sidewalk hours later. Washingtonians have a stark contrast in their candidates, about as stark as Wisconsinites who sent Walker to Madison in 2010 and yesterday voted to keep him there.
