Can a true Christian really stand by and watch this country get any worse? And it has been getting worse for 50 years now. This is the 50th anniversary of prayer being taken out of school (taking away a practice that set a nice tone to the start of the school day), and the pill gaining popularity, (the start of separating women from their natural biology). And the year after prayer was taken out of schools, the pregnancy rate for girls under 15 increased from 5,000 per year to 27,000 per year, and SAT scores plummeted.
1962 was also right before the Beatles and the “British invasion” started with innocent enough music that eventually devolved and led to such damaging social movements as free love, feminism, homosexuality, and the sexual revolution.
Dennis Marcellino, who calls himself an ex-liberal, chronicles the decline in America’s social statistics over the last 50 years in his book The Plague Of Liberalism. He also notes that the general worsening of the experience of people can be evidenced by the change in the movies, television and popular music … going from the romance, reverence, patriotism and peace of the 1950’s, through the spirit of rebellion of the ‘60s, through the decadence of the ‘70s, through the craziness of the ‘80s, through the anger of the ‘90s, through the barriers to sin (and therefore the protection of the hearts of people) being knocked down ever since.
He says that we have an opportunity to turn this around this year by voting out of office the party that promotes sin and makes it legal: the democrats.
So as to the initial question of this article – “Can a true Christian really stand by and watch this country get any worse?” – the answer is a resounding “No!” In fact it is Biblically mandated that Christians and Jews say something now: Ezekiel 3:18 “When I say to a wicked man, ‘You will surely die,’ and you do not warn him or speak out to dissuade him from his evil ways in order to save his life, that wicked man will die for his sin, and I will hold you accountable for his blood.”
Therefore, activism for goodness is needed now. And even though the phrase “Yes we can” was used by the democrats in 2008 to con the American public into thinking that with the democrats they could have a hope for a good change, as it turned out that phrase should have been extended to say “Yes we can further tear down the morals and economy of this nation,” which they did.
But now in this election year, that phrase can have a different meaning and spirit – to stop the negative slide and reinstate a lot of good, all of which is in the Bible.
